I didnt like sturgeon either fair society. She had her pros and cons , but undoubtedly damaged the scot indy movement and did nothing for independence in her time as first minister. She is gone now, but i agree there are more shockwaves to come.
not sure i agree. I dont , and certainly most people i know dont think the ordianry english people are the bad guys. There is a difference with arguing with the local village idiots like b4 , vinny or see 2 , and hating an entire people becuase of the actions of some of their political elite.
I see no reason why the scottish and english people cannot continue to be friends , work together ,and have a trading relationship as well as partenerships in many other areas , but we dont need to do it in a dysfunctional union.

it did , with some scots voting out , but in demcoratic terms , two thirds of scots voted to remain , and like northern ireland , we should have been allowed to. A fair and democratic union would have found a way to accomodate the views of one of its national members ,and brexit epitomised much of whats wrong with this one sided union in my opinion.
however much i dislike her , i have to say i dont think she hates england the country or the english people. Her family (granny) are english.
I admire Scotland because they have a alternative of a three party race, for us English we have a two horse race, the Tories or Labour, or even worse either one of them in a coalition with the Lib-dems or DUP which we have had to endure.
We need to keep political parties on their toes, and both the Tories and Labour have been taken us for mugs long enough, the sad part is we haven't even got a viable opposition (Labour) never mind three mainstream parties, so far it's a one horse race for the English voters, and it has to be Tories.
i fully understand and agree with you. Labour have betrayed not just me , but scotish voters and the scottish nation time after time they will never ever in or out of this union get my vote ever again.
Im not the dogmatic one party type , and have lent my vote to many different parties past and present , but there is a special place in political hell for labour. My vote will be up to the highest bidder in an indy scotland labour excluded.

I had no problem with the referendum. A narrow, terrible, result - but the vote itself was absolutely fine. Win some, lose some. It was the misinformation surrounding the campaigns that was the problem. Take back control, have your cake and eat it, 180 million a week to save the NHS, a new deal within a day etc. Yawn |

Therein lies the problem, the people of Scotland have only been told the 'pros' of Independence, the downsides have been played down, if the people of Scotland have another chance of Independence they should be told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, and not what they want to hear.
Sturgeon only played on the pros, her back up plan when it all went belly up was to reach out to the UK for a bail out, which at one point a phrase was coined a independent Scotland would end up as 'Greece without the sun' bail out.
We need to see on paper and backed up with hard hitters how Scotland will be self-sufficient without the propping up of the UK, and not listening to Sturgeon's fantasy land plans, believing the EU would be their saviour.

Ah, rejoin... Didn't go well for Jo Swinson, didn't get to rejoin, but did get to lose her seat. Add Jo to the list of one of the worst politicians in the UK. |

Alex Salmond the epitome of unbiased political opinions I voted remain because of the underlying weaknesses of the UK at that time, AND the obvious concerns over the Irish border. It wouldn't surprise me if many Brexit voters didn't even stop to think about such. Cameron and Co. He is not my king , in scotland we say the king is first among equals ,not a sovereign above us , and we can give or take away his crown as we have done with many of his ancesters many many times historically. The crown of scotland is a side issue at the minute .It will be dealt with one day though once we are independent , and cast into the dustbin of history where it belongs in the 21st century.
