Its because im not an idiot andrew, from your first post. People dont get it, Britain is small, space is at a premium, allowing unfettered immigration is disastrous. Just one young man comes here from god knows where, he has a family. Anyone get that now? I grew up in Cambridge, anglia is wonderful, i spent 30 plus years in the west midlands from coventry in the south to wolverhampton, its all city, i moved back to anglia to get away from hell. Anglia, the Cambridge area, Ely etc is being built on everywhere, Cambridge is due to be the size of Sheffield soon. Anyone get it yet? You cant moan about the lack of houses, do you know why? Because your paving over paradise. The government has house building as a high priority, for gods sake. Just stop immigration, most of it, let the country absorb what weve got which is too much. As for house prices, no one has connected the dots. Have i succeeded with this post? I dont think so. Ill spell it out, more people, more competition for housing of all sorts, small island, prices shoot up. Anglia will become another west midlands its inevitable, the country will become a shit hole. As for the charter of human rights, that allows unfettered immigration, if i were prime minister, id give a special live broadcast on every channel, and id have a copy of the charter in my hand. Id show it to the camera, then id drop my cacks and wipe my arse with it. Less than 6% of the UK is urban, and of that around 1% is "built on", so no we are not "full". Plenty of room north of the Watford Gap, and once you get north of Manchester / Liverpool / Leeds / Sheffield there really isn't much of anything. We could easily build 10 new cities, just stop building down south!!

We are also knocking down 1960s tower blocks, which had very high density, and replacing with lower density flats and houses. But yeah, it's all the fault of immigrants. 🙄

Now do some research to find out the percentage of indiginous people who live in these atrocities; Grenfell might be a good start.

But people dont want to live up there - in cities like Liverpool they are bulldozing whole streets of housing simply because they are not wanted.

I'm sure you knew that wasn't my point though, and I wasn't advocating they are replaced.

Well given that we are replacing high density housing with low density, and we are not building much nowdays anyway.. then, having mass migration is a bit of an error is it not?

Right to Buy had no impact on the levels of housing stock and demand. Nice pipe dream but that is simply not true. The right to buy removed a rental property from the pool of rental properties and the councils were not allowed to build replacements.

Are you trying to say that we no longer want immigration because we are knocking tower blocks down? That is part of the issue. As you point out we are reducing density (and thus available housing stock) - so in what world does having mass immigration make any sense at all?

The right to buy removed a rental property from the pool of rental properties and the councils were not allowed to build replacements. People were still living in those properties - the overall amount of housing stock was unchanged.

Are you in some fantasy land, why are you mixing up a forced upon us crime wave with immigration of a skilled kind.

Tower blocks quickly lost favour with the people they were intended to house, the indigenous working class, many of whom needed to be re-housed because of the slum clearances in the 50s and 60s. Hundreds were demolished in the eighties and nineties, and no more were built after the mid-70s (Grenfell was one of the last).
However local authorities then found it impossible to do away with completely, especially in London, where immigration brought a new demand for subsidised social housing. At the present time 60% of all social housing in London is occupied by a BAME household. In Grenfell Tower the figure was nearer 90%.
Tower Blocks are going to be with us for a good while yet, perhaps for ever in London and other major urban centres.

At the present time 60% of all social housing in London is occupied by a BAME household. In Grenfell Tower the figure was nearer 90%. I'm not sure wheat the relevancy of ethnicity is to housing need - sure people need a property whether they are black, white or brown? If you are saying that there are more poorer ethnic communities, then I'd agree, but that isn't really a housing issue.
