Latest estimate out today for this year is 700,000 - there seems to be a concerted attempt to destroy British culture.....which bits of "British culture" would that be then....on that basis that "British culture" its a mishmash of world culture one assumes that its only being enhanced...getting all maudlin about something that encompasses such a wide concept is rather odd. Jeez we banned the Sex Pistols from the radio singing God Save the Queen...fuck... surely that was the nadir of anti-British culture!!!! The British culture you mention came from certain educated chaps that administered the empire rather than the rank and file, you are thinking in stereotypes. |

If British culture stopped at pork pie and mushy peas with a warm pint at the pub listening to Vera Lynn then...shit...join a re-enactment troupe.

Every time immigration was mentioned on the BBC popular debate programmes someone said immigration has enriched our country which was a cue for a brisk round of applause from the audience and fellow panelists to nod and concur when given the chance. I have to confess I have searched and struggled to find what enrichment they were referring to and mostly I have come to the same conclusion that 'enrichment' actually means degradation. |

I would think it is quite easy to spot something that is a British Culture just as it is easy to spot something that is an Indian Culture or a Chinese Culture. All have many influences but each is quite distinct. What is at odds is bringing in other cultures to large levels so that any British Culture is overwhelmed within its own confines. I lived in South Hampshire for twenty years and there were several Scottish pipe bands in the town but they did not overwhelm the local culture where Morris dancing, Maypoles, Church fetes and carnivals were still in abundance. ...sure I get it....look don't get me wrong I'm not one for standing on the beach handing out food parcels and cast off trainers, singing Kum ba yah as these fuckwits disembark from their dinghies.... but at the same time I'm not standing in the street all teary eyed and choked up simmering anger, clutching me laptop and getting all passive aggressive; hammering away on a chat site about how the world and "British culture" is collapsing round our ears under a tidal wave Sudanese street cooking and Albania floral dancing!!! Which by the way, based on some of the images I've seen is done by sultry eye maidens with dusky skin and long silky dark hair as opposed to Morris dancers with beards and beerguts....I mean you get my drift. |
