The thing is even if the war stops tomorrow and fuel and food starts moving freely as before the situation will have changed as the cost of UK services will have risen due to wage increases so the cost of UK plc will have risen.
Then we have the green levies.
Talking to an old retired work colleague yesterday by chance and he thinks no way will we meet net zero by 2030, he says he has a diesel car and I said that will likely go up due to progressive taxation and then as more switch away from diesel it becomes more expensive.
He said electric is a scam, a van driver friend drove from South London to Bournemouth and filled up once and it took 40 mins. I said it will likely come with more nuclear power stations and then the small yet persistent risk of CMEs or plasma ejections from the Sun landing on them and potentially causing melt-down as has happens now on smaller scale with power sub-stations, satellites and traffic light failures. A real brave new world. We will perhaps have 12 new nuclear power stations to support the move to BEVs.

China is the world leader in power generated by solar, wind and hydro. They are committed to producing 80% of their electricity without fossil fuels by 2060. It's no good trying to pass the buck Red. We are all in this together. If the West abandons net zero how long do you think China or India will keep it up? For Christs sake, rather than listening to what the Chinese want you to believe as they laugh and piss in your pocket, look at what they're doing. They are building coal fired power stations in many countries around the world, and in China, they have committed to cut new build power stations to two a month until 2030 by which time the Chinese are expected to have 1,470 coal fired power stations. And lets not forget, Chinese coal fired power stations aren't 1 MW stations like most of ours were, they are huge 5 & 6 MW stations. www.scientificamerican.com/article/china-invests-546-billion-in-clean-energy-far-surpassing-the-u-s/#:~:text=The%20country%20spent%20%24546%20billion,billion%20in%20clean%20energy%20investments. China is the world leader in renewable energy. There's no getting around that Red. Let's not forget, much of their output is to satisfy rampant consumerism in the rest of the world. Unless you refuse to buy Chinese goods you are part responsible for Chinese CO2. Where were your TV, computer and mobile phone made Red?

What are you talking about Baron?
Nordstream? We didn't get gas from Nordstream. And the amount of petrol and diesel we got from Russia, was miniscule, but Putin's illegal war caused sanctions.
HE IS TO BLAME.
Sooner he fucks off out of Ukraine, and hopefully out of a high window, the better.
And I would have blown Nordstream to bits as well, whoever did it, it was necessary. That pipeline funded Putin's murder machine.
Fuck Putin.

...and the conversation falls down the same irrelevant black hole it did last time it was attempted.
China is a gigantic emitter of CO2
Is it a carefully placed blind spot that this suddenly doesn't matter? Hard to see what else it could be.

Does that matter or is it all China's fault?

I'm not the one arguing that it's all someone else's fault. I accept our responsibility, what's your excuse for passing the buck?

What study decided that? Just curious what other comparisons they made or was it a finger in the air?
