Mr Raab is supposed to have called Gina Miller a silly bitch when they shared a lift on one occasion. Good man, he has risen in my estimation. I hope that they put Jacob Rees Mogg in charge of lazy bastard civil servants. and mine, she probably doesn't know what most of us would say to her in a lift, and it wouldn't be as polite as silly bitch. The dumb broad thought it was a compliment mate. Thick as shite and twice as nasty.

Most of the civil servants are still there from the reign of Blair/Brown era, typical lefties, that is one reason why they don't like taking orders from the Tories.. By that logic, it therefore follows that Messrs Blair and Brown had to contend with civil servants from the thatcher era. Plus ça change..

Lucky them, that was back in the good old days when we had no woke snowflakes in the civil service, Thatcher would have kicked them right out.

“In setting the threshold for bullying so low, this inquiry has set a dangerous precedent. It will encourage spurious complaints against Ministers, and have a chilling effect on those driving change on behalf of your government — and ultimately the British people.” Exactly It's the intent. The civil service can over-ride elected governments and anyone who challenges that unaccountable authority can be removed

They are operating above the government, they are getting rid of any minister who questions their workings, they are telling the government if they want to WFH, they will, and there is nothing they can do about it.
It's getting totally out of hand now, and they need reeling in.

A civil servant ( in this context) is a very well paid dog's body. They have enormous privileges, potential influence and remuneration and, in return, they are expected to silently do the will of the elected
The whole notion that a person in such a position, with such advantages and options, is actually being bullied by the the representatives of the public, is quite absurd (it's almost infeasible). If you get a job a floor washer, you will likely be expected to wash floors. If you get a job adjacent to political power, you can expect occasional bad language and pressure.

The civil service can over-ride elected governments and anyone who challenges that unaccountable authority can be removed If the Civil Service think this is a win, they need to think again. What is likely to happen is that government will change the system so that they can have their own people in administration roles. After all, they have shown that they are losing their "positive neutrality". They must expect a reaction to this?

We are well past that - there is no going back. Probably the future will be a change to the US system where all the senior roles in the Civil Service are filled by political appointees. The current system is not working so perhaps time to try something different.

He isn't a great politician though is he...
He always looks like he wants to rip somebody's head off.
The queen of virtue signaling has been doing the rounds today, which is ironic, because she is perfectly happy for her own MPs (Rosie Duffield, Luciana Berger etc) to be bullied and harassed, as long as the "right people" are doing the bullying and harassment.

Spanish boots to be stationed on Gibraltar it seemed Hugh Elliot intended to make Brexit look like a diplomatic disaster with his proposal.

Interesting story - was the Ambassador flying solo and trying to make up UK Government policy on the hoof?. If so Rabbs actions make perfect sense.

The problem is fairly straightforward
Raab walked into a job where the entire civil service under him supported tbe David Lammy ‘Fuck the Referendum’ view. The Bollocks To Brexit upper middle class elite refuseniks boasted they had the ear of the civil servants given the job of implementing Brexit and were assured it would be fucked over at every possible opportunity.
Its hardly surprising a minister unable to throw such scum on tbe dole didn’t get on with those committed to fuck his every move.
Im just surprised it took so ling.
And as someone else daid already they should have given Jacob Rees Mogg tbe job.
