Well since it's a false story why care? But the proposal is they'd ban sales of them. Ahh right, OK, yes of course. Ban ban ban, it makes me wonder what life will be like in years to come. Well yes, as Harold MacMillan said we really never had it so good.

Stephen, ffs man the UK is a rainy wet island in the north Atlantic and is a lot closer to the arctic than the equator. The reason the government are flapping about future water supply is because of incompetent government policy. When it comes to water, and energy for that matter, the government have never thought long term. And I'm not talking 50 years ahead or even 30 years ahead. For example, in 2012 deputy prime minister Clegg said he would veto any plans for new build nuclear power stations, he added, they wouldn't be online until 2022 anyway. He is typical of short sighted politicians who once elected see no further than five years.

Well to be clear that daft ban power showers suggestion by a pressure group that the OP wrongly asserts is a government plan is stupid. But there is a problem with not enough water anywhere South East of Oxford. The bleeding obvious solution is stop making our economy and jobs ever more London centric because it's that that drives ever more house building in the very places where we worry every year if they'll be enough water to go round.

I had a ‘ power shower’ when my central getting involved a header tank. The header tank would run out of water if you showered for too long . Afaik if you dont have a header tank then the power of your shower is controlled by your water pressure.

I think you missed the point. The answer is not to move people/jobs around, the answer is to build more reservoirs. Since the 1960's dozens of new reservoirs have been proposed, but just one has been built, Carsington reservoir in Derbyshire in 1991. The reason we don't have enough water is the same reason we don't have enough energy, incompetent government policy that never looks long term.

I would add the size of the population also adds to the problem an increase in demand for energy and water 24/7

That's in no small part because because people don't take kindly to people flooding their houses, farms or parks to build reservoirs. The South East really is getting very full up even more than the rest of the UK

There was an idea, not that many years ago, to pump plentiful excess water from Scotland to Englamd. Farmers up in the north of Lincolnshire build their own resevoirs by digging out a large area and banking it up 8 or 10 feet then lining it. I've stopped and looked at a couple of them and they seem to work well and provide a wildlife habitat.

As a point of interest, how would the government, or your water company, know you had a power shower? With shower power inspectors of course.

The BBC in some circs have the power to enter your home, power companies have the power to enter your home, although I believe this is temporarily suspended. So 'power shower' inspectors? I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility.
