Einy, you have access to the same info as me. I was good enough to include it in the OP. I've heard of the Council, the Parliament, and the Commission. I've no idea who these 'EU diplomats' are. Your own OP says that it is all subject to a vote by these 'EU diplomats'. I assume they're not the elected Parliament or the elected Council, since you never tire of telling us the EU is run by unelected bureaucrats. So, who are they? Starmer and in the past, Cameron and May to name but a few..

If international agreements can't be overruled by Parliament, what was the point of the government's legislation making asylum seekers who enter the country by illegal means subject to prosecution? LOL, excellent. Einy, stop prevaricating. The primacy of EU law is a fact, and you know it. ONLY IN LAWS CREATED AND AGREED UPON IN THE EU. If you are going to criticise the EU at LEAST know what the rules are!!

If you are going to criticise the EU at LEAST know what the rules are!! As far as the matter being discussed is concerned your response makes little sense, and tbh, I'm not entirely surprised. The issue being discussed is the 'fact' that EU law is supreme, it takes precedence over national laws in member states. As such, and contrary to what europhiles like to tell us, EU member states cannot be sovereign countries. eur-lex.europa.eu/EN/legal-content/glossary/primacy-of-eu-law-precedence-supremacy.html

Voters in the EU don't get to directly agree to anything. The Commission proposes the law, the EU Parliament then usually approves it. Hell, in our country we didn't even get to vote on treaty changes that had profound impacts on our sovereignty.

Meantime, in the real world… “VW is understood to have made the decision [to cease production of ICE Golfs] in order to focus on production of its electric cars, including efforts to lower their price. The Golf, which was launched in 1974, has been Europe’s bestselling car for the past 14 years.” VW Golf drives off into the sunset as carmaker turns electric

Alternate headline: Volkswagen bow to political pressure after Dieselgate scandal.
Electric car technology is currently dependent on unreliable Lithium Ion battery tech and batteries wear out. Rare earths from dodgy dictatorships are also in demand. Building one electric car produces the same amount of CO2 as fifty thousand miles of driving in a traditional internal combustion engined vehicle.
Better approach: Renewable fuels. That way conventional cars become part of a closed cycle. Atmospheric CO2 is captured, and recycled.
Problem would be solved.
