So, did Anguilla request and receive a return to British authority in the early ‘70s or not, Thomas? If it did, then what I said is correct.
And as for Rhodesia/Zimbabwe, I clearly pointed out that it did so short-term under the Lancaster House Agreement (presuming that people understood, or were capable of googling, what the Lancaster House Agreement was and therefore not needing any of the history lesson that you subsequently provided) so I was correct in what I said here a well.
However, as I have repeatedly said, and as you have repeatedly ignored, what other territories decided to do is neither here nor there. All that matters here is what is best for Scotland and what the Scottish people want. And, as I have also repeatedly said but you have repeatedly ignored, the Scottish people realise that independence is not best for Scotland so they reject it.

They did , because they didnt want independence from britian. So what you said was wrong because yourt example as explained didnt meet the criteria of the question . That question was repeated to you in bold in my previous post.
When you learn to read , and understand , then perhaps you can come up with some sort of rational example.

Of course Zimbabwe is independent. What has that to do with what I said?
Did Rhodesia/Zimbabwe return to British authority for a short period under the Lancaster House Agreement? Yes, it did - so I was correct and accurate in what I said.

you repeatedly bleat about "facts". Yet in most of your posts , as above there are no "facts" just project fear fire flood and armageddon predictions for those who you politicaly disagree with regarding indy.
Here is a concrete fact for you.
65 nations have left london rule over the last few centuries , and not one of those nations has had economic and financial consequences that bad , any of them have asked to come back under london rule. Many of them are poorer by far than scotland .
Scotland would be no different. Your complete hyperbole and british nationalist hysteria wont change that "fact".
if, when you say that "Many of them are poorer by far than scotland ... Scotland would be no different." you mean that an Indy Scotland would be poorer than Scotland currently is, then I agree. so have you run out of intellectually dishonest and fragrant replies you are now reduced to putting words in peoples mouths to reply to?
Lets try again.
For the hard of understanding.
There are many nations who are poorer than scotland , but rich enough to not only maintain independence from britian , but maintain a healthy democracy and economy. Lets look again at our celtic brothers and near neighbours in ireland.
The republic since its inception has traditionally been poorer than scotland , with a smaller country in terms of sq miles , a smaller population and a poor agrarian economy .Roughly ten percent smaller , with a popualtion 12 % smaller , yet its GDP as an indy nation is 33 % higher .
Despite not having all the rich national resources that scotland has , it does far better today as an indy nation becuase it isnt like us having its economy mismanaged by london rule , or its wealth transfered south of the border like us. Scotland meanwhile is having its rich energy resources mismanaged that badly by westmisnter our people are struggling in energy poverty , with the brit elite telling us we have to be prepared to be poorer going forward. While of course they waste £100 million of our tax payers money on a feudal coronation spectacle the majority of scots dont want or support. Not to mention brexit of course which ireland isnt suffering at the hands of another countries wish to vote out of the eu.
Meanwhile over in ireland.........
...and i repeat , with independence scotland will be no different.

What question is that, Thomas? The one that you originally asked or the one that you subsequently claim that you asked? Either way, Anguilla is an example of an entity that experienced independence from British authority, decided that it wanted to go back to being under British authority, and subsequently requested and received a return to British authority. But, yet again, you ignore the crucial point - which is that what other territories wanted, or decided to do, doesn’t matter here. All that matters is what the Scottish people want and what is best for Scotland - and the Scottish people don’t want independence . Simples!

Anguilla never wanted or became an independent state ( from british rule) happy. it became independent from st kitts and nevis state. Zimbabwe , your other example is currently so overjoyed with independence from london rule it maintains that independence and doesnt want to return.
Two very poor and erronous examples.
it matters greatly to your hyperbole and crystal ball gazing about fire flood and armageddon if scotland became independent by showing examples in 65 cases of where not one country experienced economic damage that bad it thought london rule better.
Fact , as opposed to your waffling hysteria.

Britons ‘need to accept’ they’re poorer, says Bank of England economist
Chief economist Huw Pill says workers and firms should stop trying to pass on rising costs by hiking prices or demanding better wages

I didn’t put words in your mouth but quoted you verbatim. And I started my response with “if” which means that what I went on to say was conditional upon my understanding of what you meant when you said what you did. We have already discussed your Irish example and, as I said before, its GDP is a false indicator of its underlying economic position, for the reasons that I both explained above and via the link that I provided you with. I also pointed out that Ireland suffered 6 decades in the poorhouse and even now, more than a century later, it still provides its people with a standard of living below that of their UK neighbours. When you say that Scotland will be no different then that is what I am worried about - or, rather, it is what I would be worried about if independence. Talking of which, I note that you have yet again studiously avoided explaining what the plan is, in an Indy Scotland, to avoid the deep and damaging economic and financial hardship that we would face dealing with the various issues that I listed in the post that you are replying in to here. So, there is obviously no plan as you would be shouting it from the rooftops otherwise.

I was correct in all that I said about both Anguilla and Rhodesia/Zimbabwe. However, as I find myself regularly repeating on here, you don’t let anything as trivial as the truth get in the way of cheap point scoring or wide-boy taunting.

poor irish. Their GNI is 37 % higher than your uks , their state pension is £100 a week more than the uks , their economy isnt being crushed like ours by englands brexit , and their GDP per capita is three times greater than their british neighbours in the north under london rule.
Cant think why they dont demand a return to the empire . Any day now , surely they must be asking for re entry into the wonders of the uk failing state.

Semantics have nothing to do with it. All that I have said about both Anguilla and Rhodesia/ Zimbabwe is clear and unambiguous - and, most importantly, correct. And, what other entities choose to do, or what their motivations are for choosing to do so, are neither here nor there. All that matters is what is best for Scotland and what it is that the Scottish people want which, as I keep repeating and you keep ignoring, is not independence.
