The Human Rights Act 1998 Is a British act of Parliament which absorbed the ECHR into British law, meaning that if the present government ignored the ECHR, they would in actual fact be breaking British law.
So the Conservative government could then amend or repeal part, or all of the act.
However, if the government did this, and then ignored the ECHR, the government could still be taken to court directly to Europe, because repealing the Human Rights Act 1998 would not mean that the Convention no longer applies in the UK.
The ONLY way in which the ECHR would not apply in the UK, would be for the UK to withdraw from the convention, and that would not get through Parliament, many Conservatives would oppose such a move.

The Human Rights Act 1998 and the ECHR is now not fit for purpose and is no more than a criminals charter....Lets hope the UK kicks the bloody useless and corrupt UN into touch whilst they are about it.

Notice dumb and dumber are still trying to work out how many syllables there are in 'everyone' LOL Some say it's 3, some say it's 4. Ever has 2 y is another and one is another. But I accept that many pronounce it Ev-ry-one But the real point here is you ludicrously thought a few angry protesters outside a hotel was 'everyone' in the UK A reminder Please don't imagine that the Daily Mail is representative of everyone's views. They are not even representative of every Conservative MP. Oh, then the protests outside illegal migrant hotels is just a figment of our imaginations then?

It has three syllables. No more no less. In fact if you refer to the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) you will see how it is properly pronounced and see that it is indeed a 3 syllable word. ev.ri.wʌn

Well my 1950's Dictionary wot I was dragged up on says 4. But I accept that you Generation Z folk have changed so much.
Anyway that's to miss the supreme irony here. FS demanding it's wrong to say he doesn't understand 4 syllable words when he feels he can't understand 3 syllable words. I'm very happy to accept that.

If this law is not passed then say goodbye to the next election and god help us with labour......Of course all the usuals will be voicing their faux concers.
Rishi Sunak could face biggest backbench rebellion of his premiership and a Cabinet war today over plans to block the European Court of Human Rights from interfering in small boats cases Suella Braverman's plan to ignore European Court of Human Rights faces a revolt Attorney General Victoria Prentis has raised concerns about the measures

Suella Braverman is facing a Cabinet war over plans to block Strasbourg’s interference in small boats cases
The development could trigger the biggest backbench rebellion of Rishi Sunak’s premiership so far when the Illegal Migration Bill returns to the Commons today.
Government legal advisers are understood to oppose plans that would allow the Home Office to ignore injunctions by the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. It is believed Attorney General Victoria Prentis has raised concerns about the measures on the grounds they would breach international law.
I can't see a movement to ignore the ECHR on any point will get approvement of Parliament. Whilst we are signed up to the ECHR, we need to take heed of their rulings and only ignore them under advice. We could leave the ECHR, but that would require a majority of MPs to vote for it, I can't see that happening either.

I wouldn't worry about the words you put into FS mouth. You need to work on syllabification for your homework.

Where did he say ‘ everyone’? When he claimed that a Daily Express report of demonstrators outside a hotel refuted Andrew's claim about everyone's views. Please don't imagine that the Daily Mail is representative of everyone's views. They are not even representative of every Conservative MP. Oh, then the protests outside illegal migrant hotels is just a figment of our imaginations then?
