I hope his parents and family can get some sort of closure today I found the antics of the Americans in this absolutely stupid. All she had to do was plead guilty or not guilty and put herself before the court. She would have been found not guilty or guilty. She may mav been disqualified, big deal. She is American and will have no effect over there. Then fined. I doubt if she would have been jailed. She may have been stupid. But I do not think she deliberately mowed down young Harry. The damage done to the family is far more telling than the absolute stupidity of her actions. Any government worth their salt in the Western world would have withdrawn their diplomatic immunity, if she had it. And told to go and answer to their actions..

I seem to remember some time ago that Sacoolas's lawyers indicated that she may be willing to do community service [In her own community] I remember thinking, that's really fuckin big of her.

She IMO should at least come back to the UK to be sentenced, but I doubt if she will

Anne Sacoolas will (and always would have) suffered very little for her mistake (as I believe it was). The reputational damage to the US, from trying to avoid doing the decent thing, however has been far greater. I've never trusted the US politically, but after this I wouldn't trust the fuckers as far as I could throw them.

What really stinks about this is the fact that if the boot were on the other foot, if a Brit had killed someone in the US and fled to the UK, how long would it have been before he was extradited back to the US to stand trial? Not long I'll wager.

Not long I'll wager. It took us years to extradite Hamza to the States, Assange still has not been shipped out there yet as far as I am aware, we like any other country can refuse to extradite wanted suspects, I am not certain, but I believe we will not extradite anyone or deport anyone, if they may face torture or the death penalty

I was disgusted by the way the previous US government (Trump administration) protected her. She's killed.
If I'd been in the USA, killed someone by driving on the wrong side of the road and come back here, I'd have been extradited back there and faced prison. The Americans have been shameful.
Nothing can bring Harry back, but Anne should do time.

Leaving aside the nationalism and the spineless UK government colluding in her flight from the UK for a moment.
This appears to have been a case of pure accident. The driver was not drunk, on drugs and did not intend to cause any harm to others. She just made a catastrophic error and sadly on this occasion rather than a near miss scaring both parties witless, on this occasion they collided and killed a young man who had done nothing wrong.
What would be the point of sending someone to prison, at considerable expense, for making an unintended mistake?

No, this is the price of foreign governments being twats, and whilst I'm at it may I remind you that the Russian government is sheltering actual murder suspects.
Anne Sacoolas is accused of manslaughter, not murder.
She didn't mean to kill Harry Dunn, she was grossly negligent at the wheel of a vehicle and drove incompetently, causing his death.
Andrei Lugovoi and Dmitry Kovtun, murder suspects in the Litvinenko murder are / were protected by Putin. Anatoliy Chepiga and Dr. Alexander Yevgeniyevich Mishkin, the Salisbury poisoning murder suspects, again protected by Putin.
We are neither a vassal of the USA or Russia. We expect justice in all cases, manslaughter / murder.
