What happened to their tasers? No, I don't think it was necessary to shoot someone 3 times for waving a knife around. It's not the sort of policing I want. Would you rather one of the police or a passing member of the public were stabbed ? Monte, today in this richly diverse multicultural country stabbings are so routine it's almost unnewsworthy. Knife crime is out of control, low IQ chavs who regard a knife as a fashion accessory should be under absolutely no illusion that if they carry a knife there is a very real possibility they will be shot. Agreed. Western society needs to reflect on its kid glove approach towards criminality. The softly, softly approach has only made society worse and less safe. If police start shooting a few of these criminals who wave knives around and use them to stab people this kind of crime would decrease knowing that a deterrent in the form of a bullet would be coming their way. |

The Met states that they are taking 400 knives off the street every month, this report is 2 years old, but this shows how many weapons they were seizing back then, I suspect that may have increased since then. What does need to happen IMO when they make arrests for possession of weapons the Courts should really hit them with harder longer sentences, these feral gang member youngsters are not frightened of being sent to a Young Offenders Prison of an adult prison but look on it as a badge of honour. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8887977/Police-seized … |

According to the Police Watchdog the Police did try nonlethal methods, a Taser, a Baton Round, and even a stun grenade none of them stopped him he was killed by one round to the stomach, three knives were recovered at the scene

If the police shot a few more knife wielding idiots perhaps low IQ chavs would be less inclined to carry knives. Maybe so, however they might equally be more inclined to obtain and carry guns to level the playing field. That is not an attractive proposition |

That is not an attractive proposition Criminals have been carrying and using firearms for years. In 1998 the Met Police set up Operation Trident in an attempt to combat gun crime in the black community and due to rising levels of gun crime across the country Op Trident was later extended to Birmingham and Manchester. The police should carry sidearms for personal protection, another discussion perhaps. The days when Police simply had a Truncheon hidden from view in a long trouser pocket are long gone, back then very few Officers were trained to use a Firearm and did not carry them as routine kept in safe in the Police Station, over time longer batons or extendable were introduced, handcuffs then stab resistant vests, CS/Pepper Spray, tasers (not all officers carry them) and more Officers trained and issued with Firearms
All down to the rise in violence on our streets, feuding gangs, drug dealers', terrorism, and the general break down of law and order in some sections of society and the general lack of discipline, both at home, in our schools

It all depends on the threat level,taser if its not a deadly attack but if a officer is actually attacked its justified,it can be a tough call,remember when that British soldier was killed by those Islamist terrorists in London i think one was shot. If you mean Lee Rigby then no, both his butchers were taken alive but only because they came quietly. A nurse of all people spent quite a while keeping one of the pair, still wielding the weapon of his slaughter and covered in his victims blood, talking until police arrived. No, I don’t want to live in a country where trigger happy plod off a bloke carrying a table leg, or for that matter driving a car similar to a villain and having a slight resemblance to said villain, but I also recall the police response to the chap butchering people on London Bridge was to rock up and put several rounds straight into the chest and I applaud them for doing so. |
