I would suggest if you are disgusted by Lineker and the BBC don't pay the license tax and turn it off. Seems like a good idea. As obviously the Left don't like the BBC as they are not impartial run by the Tories and the right don't like it as football pundits plus others can try and decide government policy.

Attenborough may be the darling of the left, but on many occasions he has called for population growth to be cut. Indeed, a few years ago he said the human population should be halved. I wonder what the sainted Greta and like minded lefties think of that.

This is "censure" or gagging of a citizen from expressing his or her views, and Gary Linekar s views on this topical issue is NOT political, in so much as it makes no reference to Party Politics. There are a great many people in this country, including me, who can now see that for some people in mortal danger or distress, there is now no means available to request asylum in the UK, and that is an indisputable fact. In the 1930s there were many politicians and people in this country who opposed granting refuge to Jews from Germany. If Gary Linekar in his own free thinking mind, wishes to express his opinion on the subject, the same as thousands of other famous people have done on Twitter, then why should the Tory Boss of the BBC stop him. It appears this is an attack on a 'lefty' when you consider other people that have criticised the government and worked at the BBC.
The BBC has made a political statement itself by 'bowing' to Tory pressure, should it stand back until it is sorted?

The BBC are not stopping him, he can twitter all day about his vacuous opinions and no one is saying that he can't, it is after all a free country.
All the BBC are saying is that if he chooses to make an idiot of himself with offensive and juvenile twitters they will choose not to employ him.
Everyone has a right to free speech, but no one has a right to a job. There isn't a problem, he has chosen to breach his contract and can't be surprised at the outcome.

It's rather funny all the those on the left who fully supported the cancel culture who are now getting wound up about the cancel culture...  Of course the easiest solution is for the BBC to cease being funded through taxation and then it (and it's employees) can be as biased and partisan as every other media outlet. |
