No matter what you cannot kill a faith its been tried, there will still be some who believe in something you don't, we sent our kids to Catholic run Schools wife is Catholic I am not nor deeply religious but the reason we sent them to Catholic Schools because they were more disciplined and their exam results were far better than the other local schools.
Christianity was brutal in days gone by, the Crusades before that the Roman Empire killed Jews, Christians, Barbarians who did not worship Roman Gods , Pagans in what is now the UK, Islam was just as brutal and some of them still are even against others who share their faith.

What can we do to protect teenage girls and grown women from 'honour' killings? Sadly we will never be able to stop all Honour Killings in the UK IMHO, parents will take their young daughters back to places such as Pakistan for an example and wed them off basically sell them, if the girl does not agree and the deal falls through they will kill her and probably get away with it there |

I think the topic got rerouted through some education argument … So what’s the issue with ‘honour killings’ anyway. What is so special about them that they are allowed in darkest bongo bongo land or wherever. I think we should start there. The reality as discussed here ohrh.law.ox.ac.uk/addressing-honour-killings-in-india-the-need-for-new-legislation/ is that while only one part of India has specific legislation stating categorically that far from being something one turns a blind eye to, killing a relative for their choice of marriage partner is a fouler, blacker deed than killing for other motives, the whole of India is covered by a Penal Code defining killing of any kind as not remotely on. So the question is not why do they think they can do this here, but why do they think they can do it THERE. Answering THAT would go a long way to showing us what the exact problem that we face is; i personally feel it is certainly not the case such acts are legal in their country of origin |

I don't feel it's a matter of legality - many of significant sources of immigration are barely democracies and are barely hanging on to this thin crust of civilisation.
The attitudes of the population itself is the problem for these countries and, when we wholesale import this population, this same problem becomes our problem as well.
With enough immigration you can eradicate all of the social advantages that were carefully and painfully built up by any population over centuries
