The problem is, it's not the first time his comments have caused controversy. Yesterday he was supremely confident he would be presenting Match of the Day on Saturday because he is extremely arrogant. He constantly railed against Brexit, he has openly mocked Tory MP's and has been warned by the BBC on several occasions about his overtly political anti government comments. He quite obviously thinks he is above any form of sanction. And it's no good saying he is allowed an opinion, he is the BBC's highest paid 'star' and with that comes some responsibility. Personally I hope he is sacked, but it will be interesting to see whether he swallows his arrogance and agrees to behave himself, or walks. Seems you have got your wish In what respect?

Steve very funny guess it will be Mark Chapman and some footballers that have been waiting to get a chance after the stale Alan Shearer though personally I don't mind Ian Wright. His choice though.

So now it's going to be Mutes of the Day tomorrow as the BBC couldn't get anyone to present it Hard to see how this is going to get resolved happily for the BBC, there will almost certainly be performance clauses in their contract for TV rights and they're going to be breaking them. Ironic to see the Daily Maily that called for him to be sacked is now changing its tack www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11845289/BBC-takes-Gary-Lineker-AIR.html

This is turning into a right clusterfuck, all because left wing Lineker thinks he's bigger than the BBC. Naturally lefties are forming up behind him, to be expected. This fuss will blow over and the BBC will inevitably carry on. However, it will mark a low point in left wing Lineker's career that he may find more difficult to walk away from. Will any future employer risk taking on Lineker knowing he is a big mouth who refuses to tow the line?
Lineker likes to think he is political, yet he continues to ignore requests to appear on Talk TV and GB News. It seems he likes criticising government policy from the safety of the Twittersphere, but he isn't confident enough, or possibly clever enough to defend his opinions in a face to face interview.

Criticism of 'bland banal and humourless' Lineker, from the left wing Independent. For more than a decade, the BBC’s flagship football series has faced criticism for being ‘stale’ and ‘predictable’. With the show back on screens for another Premier League season, little has changed and Gary Lineker remains, dug in like a unusually well-compensated tick.www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/features/match-of-the-day-premier-league-football-b1906082.htmlI think Lineker's biggest problem is the fact that he seems to think he is bigger than the show, that Match of the Day is all about him. And as far as Lineker is concerned this whole episode may have backfired. Thanks to his criticism of government policy, no one is talking about government policy. I've tuned into three different radio stations this morning and they are all talking about Lineker. Perhaps Braverman should be grateful to him.

Nope. Contracts not going to be renewed. He’s sacked but will work out his notice . So working to the end of your contract is the same as being sacked now is it? Yes. If your contract is not bring renewed then you are effectively sacked. Whether you work until the end of your contract or not .

So the ''woke'' right is now embracing cancel culture. That should put an end to the endless threads about ''woke'' they love to create. The right is embracing equality .

How many people watch MotD to see Gary Lineker? A lot more than vote Tory to get Braverman as Home Secretary

Looks like the BBC lefties and virtue signallers are threatening not to honour their contractual obligations in support of Lineker. A good chance for the BBC to clear them out and save some licence payers money.
