So now it's going to be Mutes of the Day tomorrow as the BBC couldn't get anyone to present it Hard to see how this is going to get resolved happily for the BBC, there will almost certainly be performance clauses in their contract for TV rights and they're going to be breaking them. Ironic to see the Daily Maily that called for him to be sacked is now changing its tack www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11845289/BBC-takes-Gary-Lineker-AIR.html Have they asked Graham Norton?

A good chance for the BBC to revamp it with new faces and clearer working contracts.

Maybe Dion( foot long) Dublin might be up for presenting MOTD. It’s one or two up from Homes under the hammer.👍

Gary Lineker has eluded being called a Nazi, by not acting and talking like one.
And the complaints that Lineker shouldn't voice his opinions because he's paid by the people who pay the BBC tax, sound rum when politicians, who are also paid out of taxes, make that complaint.
And now it's been pointed out that Lord Sugar, regular BBC TV presenter, has also tweeted/voiced his support for Boris Johnson and his dislike of Jeremy Corbyn, without sanction. Not too much parity of treatment there!!!
And now, the Tory-chaired BBC's Question Time presenter, Fiona Bruce, blatantly cut short a panellist answer as to why Stanley Johnson should not be honoured, when Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, described Boris Johnson’s father Stanley as “a wife beater”.
Bruce then cut in and said: “Stanley Johnson’s wife spoke to a journalist, Tom Bower, and she said Stanley Johnson had broken her nose and she had ended up in hospital as a result.
“Stanley Johnson has not commented publicly on that. Friends of his have said it did happen, it was a one off.”
Complaints that the BBC is Left Wing seems totally at odds with the facts when all sanctions for bias are put on people questioning — off-air and, in their own time — Conservative actions and views, after pressure from Central Office and No.10...

BBC is a globalist organisation as it tries to maintain and grow where possible a global audience.
I would say it has both right wing and left wing elements yet the globalist element is at odds with Brexit though the BBC's funding comes largely from the working class that pay the license fee who mostly were behind Brexit.
It's complex yet for a national treasure to openly criticise a government policy on a public forum is very naive..........

What about political discussion programmes — are you saying that all those appearing have to be unquestioning government supporters...?

This evenings edition of Match of the Day will probably have the best viewing figs ever, everyone's talking about it and even people who don't usually tune in will be curious to see it with no presenters.

A good chance for the BBC to revamp it with new faces and clearer working contracts. And smaller salaries.

I should add nothing stopping him from stepping down from MOTD and re-launching himself as a political pundit.

No yet only to speak about their area of expertise, he is not a political pundit just a football one. I disagree — why can't JK Rowling, Eddie Izzard, Neil Oliver, David Attenborough, Richard Coles, Michael Palin, Libby Lane and a host of others outside of party politics be able to voice and discuss opinions on what they see politicians doing or not doing?
We can see and hear politicians every day of the week, just as we see so many of their ideas spoon-fed to political journalists in their supporting media.
Personally, I like to hear the opinions about the country, the government, public institutions, large organisations etc, etc, etc, from people outside politics. And I like it if they are articulate enough to put their views in an understandable fashion...

Nothing. If they work for BBC, they can resign and give a full throated vent to their opinions. They can also remain employed by the BBC and give their opinion in such a way that it isn't linked to the BBC. Anyway - that's my take.

By implication, that means you believe the BBC can only be the mouthpiece of the state and have on its discussion programmes people from an approved list of vetted candidates who won't rock the boat.
Sounds more like policy from China, North Korea, or Russia...
