The reason we don't want the billions of cubic meters of shale gas is global warming. Calling people stupid names doesn't change that. ZG, three months ago Sunak signed a deal with Biden for the US to supply the UK with ten billion cubic metres of fracked shale gas. We have billions of cubic meters of shale gas in the ground in this country. This is economics of the mad house. Oh wake up Red. You are confusing the current crises with Putin with longer term strategy. The reason we can't use our own shale gas is because this war caught us out. It will take a decade for us to switch over and by then the war will be history and so will gas burning.

In many ways ZG, you remind me of Nick Clegg, or Rodney Trotter as he is affectionately known in some circles. In 2011 as deputy prime minister he said he would veto any plans to build new nuclear power plants, he added, it wouldn't help anyway because any new nuclear power stations wouldn't be online until 2022. Are you a plonker Rodders? It certainly sounds like it.

What climate change? The changes according to the snotty nosed little non entity like bumburgh would it be by any chance? According to every scientific institute studying meteorology across the globe. And what about the scientists that can see the light of day and see this eco bollocks for what it is? You keep harping on about climate change so gives us and example?

And anyway, the EU say shale gas is green. Of course that has nothing to do with Putin blowing up the Nord Stream pipeline which the EU heavily relied on for gas. Talk about expediency, lol.

What I actually meant was we should have exploited our shale gas reserves 20 years ago so we weren't relying on Putin. That we have left it too late. To exploit it now would not solve our current problems and would not help our future problems either.

It will be a back up trivial part of our energy production. Putin will have no hold over us.

You keep harping on about climate change so gives us and example? What about them. One example; Worldwide, most glaciers are shrinking or disappearing altogether. Relative to 1970, the climate reference glaciers tracked by the World Glacier Monitoring Service have lost a volume of ice equivalent to nearly 25 meters of liquid water—the equivalent of slicing 27.5 meters of ice off the top of each glacier.

Of course you are debating with someone mate who doesn't understand that meteorology is the study of weather. But according to our not so learned friend it's not about the weather changing....Go figure?

ZG, 20 years ago we relied on coal power stations for our energy needs and they provided reliable power 24/7. The urgent requirement for shale gas is because we destroyed our coal fired power stations with no obvious plan to replace them, other than relying on Putin and the wind (I know, you couldn't make it up) But of course, thanks to people like you the government cant even exploit our own shale gas reserves, so they buy it from the US instead. Which is much greener, right?

I have asked you to give us an example of climate change. Is there any likely hood of an answer this century?

For Christs sake ZG, the climate has always changed, please see google. When it comes to climate alarmism I often think thanks heavens the Romans didn't have twitter.

Which is much greener, right? You're showing your age Red. We dramatically reduced coal usage in 1990, 33 years ago. Hence my 20 years ago thought for shale gas. Oh and once again for the stereotypists. I AM IN FAVOUR OF USING OUR OWN GAS until renewables are fully expanded.

Stop repeating this shite when you know nothing about the subject and make no effort to find out. Historical climate change exists and was traumatic and deadly. We know it happened from the fossils of the billions of creatures it killed. We know what caused it back then and we know what's causing it now.
