The only track record that Starmer has got, is the record of the previous Labour government
The Labour government of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown rescued the NHS from 18 years of under-investment, terrible waiting lists and waiting times, both of which were growing. Staff morale was rock bottom, junior doctors were working ridiculous and unsafe hours and there was an annual Winter Bed Crisis.
The incoming government in 1997 turned the waiting lists around, they turned waiting times around, they stopped junior doctors from working silly hours by recruiting thousands of extra doctors, many were from overseas, The government at the time also recruited thousands of nurses. The NHS improved considerably, this was the last time that our NHS saw REAL improvements.
Under the last Labour government we saw sustainable growth EVERY YEAR, this was the last period in which this happened, it has not happened since 2010.
We saw rising living standards, which have now gone backwards under this government, we saw a fall in poverty, also gone backwards under this government.
We had better public services, no one waited an hour and a half for a Paramedic, a GP appointment was available in 2 or 3 days, NOT 2 or 3 WEEKS.
1997 - 2007 was the last time things felt good in this country, it was almost like the Swinging Sixties again, often refered to as "Cool Brittania".
The Tories have failed, they have failed everyone except for the very rich, they have failed in every area, mesmerized by the EU and in-party squabbles on Europe instead of on things that actually matter to people and make a difference to peoples lives.
Is there ANYTHING thats better today because of this government ?
