Sitting back and waiting for the Tories to fail while having nothing to add but promises is a dangerous strategy for Labour. Firstly it reveals that Labour has no real substance and secondly it allows the Tories to fight back. If Rishi settles the economy down and throws money around just before the next GE , it gives the Tories a real chance to survive in government.

There is a growing perception that "anything has got to be better than this"
There s also a growing perception that Starmer is been up front with the electorate, saying for example that a Labour government cannot borrow to do all the things they want to do, or that they wont be able to crack eggs with sticks, or put everything right in a year, or even in a first term.
What Starmer is gradually doing is outlining what a Labour governments priorities will be, and in some instances HE IS EXPLAINING HOW IT WILL BE FUNDED, like stopping the non-domicile status, putting revenue into the NHS combined with reform, to repair the immense damage of the past 12 years.
Stopping charitable status to private schools, putting THAT money into education ( state education ).
But the bottom line here is that no political party, including the Conservatives, publish their manifesto until the commencement of a general election campaign.
What you are going to get ( probably from all parties ) is a series of policy announcements, and Keir Starmer did say this yesterday, so watch this space, and wait for it.
I fully expect some key announcements during the local elections campaign, in which I believe the Tories will come off very badly, and I rather suspect that with barely 18 months to go, real panic will set in to the Tory Party, which is already bitterly divided.
As Seargeant Fraser of Dads Army would say to the Conservatives "We're doomed"

As Keir Starmer quite rightly stated .... better to have goals to aim for, than no aspirations at all, and they are noble aspirations based partly upon 13 years of TORY FAILURE. To achieve high sustained growth ... Building an NHS fit for the future ... Break down barriers to opportunity ... Make Britains streets safe ... Make Britain a clean energy superpower ... Yes, lovely. But how? That's the question. And Starmer hasn't answered.

Except of course that Ed Miliband never really made any BIG breakthrough in the opinion polls ... unlike Mr Starmer. Next Stop: The local elections in May, then watch the real panic set in amongst the Tories I never claimed that they had the same history. Starmer is as useless as Milliband . Labour is dependent on Tory failure. As you pointed out , the Labour opposition has nothing to gauge it by , only Starmers kneeling and Rayners sneering . You are of course entitled to your trite opinion.
