I see Starmer gave another one of his ducking and diving car crash interviews, he had one of his red neck exploding face moments when asked about the illegal boat people, LOL true to form Starmer.

The deluded left, we should be 'happy' that tens of thousands of migrants will be legally allowed to stay, great, so instead of rinsing the tax payers by using hotels, we will instead be legally obliged to 'house' them, so how is that saving the tax payers money, it will cost even more.
We have a housing shortage crisis, so once these applications are rubber stamped they will be on the housing waiting list or put up in some other form of accommodation. No we are far from happy.
You are incorrect. The LA has no housing obligation to those granted asylum, ie refugees. Only obligation is to provide housing advice. You just made that up. Again. www.housing-rights.info/02_2_Refugees.php

Asylum support, including accommodation, is provided to asylum seekers who do not have any other way of supporting themselves. Asylum accommodation is provided on a 'no choice' basis so you cannot choose where you live.
Are asylum seekers entitled to housing? You can get emergency housing if the council think you are homeless and in priority need. You always have a priority need if: children live with you
Do asylum seekers get free accommodation? When someone gets refugee status, they can no longer stay in asylum accommodation. They can choose where to live, but they have to pay for their rent or ask for government help (UK tax payers in other words) – like any UK citizen.
Who provides accommodation for asylum seekers? Support, including accommodation, may be provided, or arranged, by the Home Office under section 98 of the IAA 1999 to asylum seekers or dependents of asylum seekers who appear that they may be destitute.
andrew wrong again.

And that all ends when their asylum case is decided

No, you are. What you have quoted refers to ASYLUM SEEKERS. Once they are granted Asylum, they become REFUGEES. And that ends the housing obligation, as explained above.

Yes, that's right, it means that they have the same entitlement to Universal credit as you or me. That does not mean that they get a Housing duty obligation.

So you now agree, they can find somewhere to live, then ask the government to pay the rent, it might not be their desired accommodation but nevertheless they will be accommodated yet again courtesy of the UK tax payers, so why should we be 'happy'?

You do understand that once they are granted that refugee status that they are then allowed to work?
At this point their rights in terms of employment and benefits is exactly the same as yours.
So no, we will no longer be paying for hotel accommodation. You also seem to have missed the point that by granting them refugee status that we are acknowledging that they have a legitimate legal right to be here.

Just answer a direct question with a Yes or No.

Well no. You can't just ask for benefits. You try renting a house and then go down the job centre and see if they will pay for it. You have to QUALIFY for whatever benefits you are entitled to.

It's inexplicable mystery, almost spooky, that something like this would happen in a democracy
..and than carry on happening decade after decade despite public opposition
