FFS there has been climate changes on this planet ever since the big bang long before man even ocupied this planet...If you think banning the use of fossil fuel is putting the planet in danger you have less sence than I gave you credit for. Funny how the eco zealots never mention the fact that the hole in ozone layer has healed.....And that was down to man for releasing refrigerant gases into the atsmosphere the ozone layer because it was a concerted effort made by ALL countries the problem was solved....Those same countries who acted on that problem don't give this ban on the burning fossil fuel a second thought because they know it is all just total bullshit. FFS we know what caused those climate changes and we know what's causing this one. The hole in the ozone layer was caused by US we did something about it and its healing (Not healed.) I have lots of sense, though less sence. We are trying to do something about AGW and hopefully we will mend that to. What really makes me sick is stupid people referring to climate changes from our past without any idea at all of their catastrophic effects. They say we had Ice ages and medieval warm periods but have no knowledge of the species wiped out by them or the crop failures and displacement of humans. Sigh. What makes me sick are those that keep spouting the same old bullshit about climate warming who have done zero research and are suckered by all these doom and gloom merchants who don't have a fucking clue about reality. |

I'm a computer scientist. I understand their prediction models, including their flaws. And know better than they. Yep all these precdictions of doom and gloom are BS...Hint a computer works on logic not predictions. |

And we are back to the 97% consensus which has been debunked on several occasions. Not all Scientists agree and there is a sizeable minority that believe that the climate emergency is largely based on junk science and is a political standpoint rather than a scientific one. Should we ignore those scientists and go with the majority even though the majority is split in their beliefs as regards what should be done and how fast? Science is not a democracy, it is process of proving or disproving hypotheses through observation and experimentation. If it was a democracy Copernicus would have been isolated and we would still believe the earth was the centre of the universe. Not accepting the consensus is usually how new consensuses are born. Currently the 'settled science' is hanging its coat on an ever more shoogly peg. Debunked? I don't think so. The most you have done is dispute the sheer number of scientists who agree on AGW. So over to you, demonstrate a majority of scientists who do not believe in AGW. A sizeable minority? Is still a minority. So just how big is this minority? 5% 10%. No there is no clear indication that the level of the consensus was 97% which was the claim made and even in their own report that was shown to be inaccurate. So I dispute the percentage, as do all others I have linked to and the reports claiming that consensus are based on are subjective appraisals of a sample of scientists and a selection of peer reviewed papers. So the claim that 97% is the level is both inaccurate as an actuality and as a statistical inference from the data used. Desperately hanging on to that number is both wrong and self misleading. I do not dispute that a minority is indeed those who say that AGW is not happening and is not a danger. It is the level of each aspect that is in dispute within the majority. |

The problem is that we do not know, people think they know and tell the rest of us they are right and that everyone else must conform to their agenda. Indeed from the MWP we have very good information as regards what happened during and after and even better information as regards the little ice age. What we do not have is a crystal ball, although some say they have. Those crystal balls have been supplying our fortune for over 30 years and so far if we had paid attention to them it would have not made blind bit of difference to the planet. It is not clear why we should continue to worship at the feet of their findings. For "people" read "Scientists". For "The rest of us" read "people" Oh come now - I would have thought that Covid would have taught you that scientists making forecasts is not the same as reality. |

You may still be mistaking it for religion. Scientific methodology isn't mere text book and so far I haven't seen anything other than devotion to your truth, which is apparently passed down to you. A belief system can easily corrupt the process, especially when there's a lot of money and power involved. |

Anyway, nobody has to worry as the next Government will make us a 'clean-energy superpower' (whatever that is but it sounds great).
Don't know if it will bring down prices (probably not) but we can all feel virtuous whilst knitting our own socks by candlelight..

Don't know if it will bring down prices (probably not) but we can all feel virtuous whilst knitting our own socks by candlelight.. Not a super power, more like a commonsense power. Energy is sold at market prices, one would expect Mrs. Thatcher if she was still alive, and her devout supporters to be in favour of that. |
