Again and again. the fuel poverty crises is nothing to do with renewable energy. There is no need to make this lie part of your argument. Other than that we sit at an impasse. You argue we should do nothing I argue we should. Both of us have stated our reasons. Brilliant. So in your opinion ZG, closing all of our reliable coal fired power stations and not exploiting shale gas while spending £billions on unreliable wind turbines, has got nothing to do with the government warning people that power cuts/rationing may be necessary to preserve dwindling supplies. ZG, again and again, renewables are expensive and are not reliable. As you have already pointed out there are coal fired power stations ready to step in IF necessary. Meanwhile renewable energy will continue to be increasingly available. How much does it cost to run and maintain a coal fired power station?

If renewables were more effective than (or effective as) fossil Fuels, we wouldn't be having this discussion because renewables would be selected naturally.
What sort of fool would select a less effective technology?

How much does it cost to run and maintain a coal fired power station? Good question. All I can say is - it must have been reasonably cheap, because when it was our primary method of generation electricity was cheap as chips.

We are not exploiting shale gas because we are fighting climate change. Just because its beyond your ability to understand does not make it not so. Wind turbines are not unreliable and they now regularly supply 30% of our energy. Given time it will be more but you can only build wind farms so fast. The future will consist of 90% of our energy coming from renewable and 10% from gas as a back up. The back up will also come from hydro, pumped water and power storage. The government are warning people of power cuts/rationing because we use gas and Putin has turned the main tap off. PUTIN HAS TURNED OFF THE GAS, THAT'S PUTIN. NOT RENEWABLES, PUTIN PUTIN PUTIN PUTIN

Actually until this war electricity as a percentage of household income was at an all time low. Mostly because of all the low energy devices we now use.

If the world really is going to end in the next couple of decades because us umans have caused it, then what could be better than buying a beach front mansion and jetting around the globe telling everyone about it? That's what I'd do!

Funny how the eco zealots never mention the fact that the hole in ozone layer has healed.....And that was down to man for releasing refrigerant gases into the atsmosphere the ozone layer because it was a concerted effort made by ALL countries the problem was solved....Those same countries who acted on that problem don't give this ban on the burning fossil fuel a second thought because they know it is all just total bullshit.

FFS we know what caused those climate changes and we know what's causing this one. The hole in the ozone layer was caused by US we did something about it and its healing (Not healed.) I have lots of sense, though less sence. We are trying to do something about AGW and hopefully we will mend that to. What really makes me sick is stupid people referring to climate changes from our past without any idea at all of their catastrophic effects. They say we had Ice ages and medieval warm periods but have no knowledge of the species wiped out by them or the crop failures and displacement of humans. Sigh.

The thing is, you haven't presented anything. You're just hysterically repeating rhetoric passed down to you whilst believing you're highly intelligent. Have you ever considered the possibility that you're not all that, and that those who are more sceptical have heard it all before?

You have the whole of Google to look at. Try reading some articles from SD or New Scientist or Nature, instead of some bloke on Youtube. Read some history to see what happened in the medieval warm period or the Ice age. Go learn, its all out there and its not my job to educate you.

Neither do we know how many species benefitted and how many species evolved as a result of those periods to give Earth the variety we have today. One thing is certain, we never had extremists running round flapping about the differing effects,we weren't ripping down thousands of acres of forests to satisfy the needs of a shrinking animal kingdom whilst human population grew and moved but nowhere more so than in recent times.

You couldn't educate us, your purpose is a poor attempt at indoctrination, are you like that with the kids who work for you? Would you allow them to tell people that CO2 theories are bunkum?

The problem is that we do not know, people think they know and tell the rest of us they are right and that everyone else must conform to their agenda. Indeed from the MWP we have very good information as regards what happened during and after and even better information as regards the little ice age. What we do not have is a crystal ball, although some say they have. Those crystal balls have been supplying our fortune for over 30 years and so far if we had paid attention to them it would have not made blind bit of difference to the planet. It is not clear why we should continue to worship at the feet of their findings.

You may not but scientists do. What's your point here? That because humans spent the last thousand years trashing the planet without "extremists running round flapping" that we should continue the same.
