Currently we are spending around £20 Billion on servicing Government debt - at some point you have to start living within your means. Well if Scotland and N.I go their own way that is probably £13bn saved as I don't think their tax revenue covers their own costs / needs. Then we have £3bn for hostel accommodation for asylum seekers 98% which are likely phoney. Then we could means tax wealthy pensioners for subsidised travel fares, free prescriptions etc. , winter heating allowance, guess £2bn Guess what that is around £18bn saved on paper. Never would be quite that simple yet does show what can be done if the political will is there. |

Sorry you can't keep up. Perhaps read the posts back to back, so you don't lose the thread. Well perhaps it would help if you stopped going off at a tangent. Failure to paint a rainbow does not cost anyone anything - failure to support our pensioners costs them dying. But somehow you believe that spending to be equivalent.. Well, for a start not supporting pensioners was not my suggestion, I spoke of the extra support Chelsea pensioners get. Secondly, it was just an analogy to highlight for you the point that you only want support cut for things you don't believe in. Which you proved admirably. Now your assumption is that the rainbows help no one, which is incorrect as I went to some measure but you ignored. So the problem is you don't see any need for help with inequality and therefore see no reason to spend any money on it. And that's where you stop. As I said if you don't support it its wasted money. |

I watched some of the old Alo Alo series with my wife and we agreed the young would run screaming from the room at the misogamy etc. We agreed they would never understand it was tongue in cheek. |

Bloody hilarious. I was young at the time but i have some memories of Benny Hill. One sketch in particular stuck in my mind, in which prisoners got to choose the method of their execution. I recall that being chased over a cliff edge by hundreds of women in swimwear was one of chosen execution methods |
