So i see the uk government , through their trusty helpers in the uk press , are once again throwing in a bit of meat for the brexiters claiming to have solved the hated northern ireland protocol. Of course we seem to get to this position time and again , with government ministers trying to put thier spin on the status quo while unders severe pressure.
Meanwhile the eu are saying this....
who to believe? I know who i believe, and i think the old tories must be really getting desperate to keep punting this old shite on a regular basis.

Maybe the prospect of a united Ireland is starting to evaporate. Some may be happy , some may be sad .

Maybe the prospect of a united Ireland is starting to evaporate. Some may be happy , some may be sad . how so?
Surely from the evidence in this thread ( northern ireland is still apart from the ruk despite tory claims to have solved the protocol) and the evidence on the ground (unionism lost its political majority for the first time in a hundred years in 2017) that the opposite is true bentley?
Another day , another tory press release talking utter guff , and the border between one part of the uk and another still exists down the irish sea.

Yes but they are working on a solution. Im sure that you will wish them well and hope that they succeed with their endeavours.

If the unionists of the north are spitting feathers , you know the tories are talking cac as normal.

For people who want to remain in the UK they don’t seem to like the English much either.

We can see clearly the tories are totally rattled . Kate hoey was slagging them off last week , now this week , lo and behold we have the latest guff from tory hq .
Do you think the tories are going to go to january `25 bentley? at the rate things are going i will be surprised if they last the rest of this year in government , never mind sort the northern irish protocol out.

It’s difficult to say. I don’t see Labour doing anything more than repeating the ‘ Tories are horrid’ mantra for the next two years so it’s up to the Tories to lose the next GM. If they can hold out for a year and the economy doesn’t tank ( and maybe go some way to settle the NI problem) then they might hand out enough goodies in 2024 to sway the vote.

The westmisnter elite have a tendency to kick cans down roads ,and sit on their hands. I think they are waiting on the stormont vote on the protocol , and should the northern irish vote to keep the protocol , they can wash their hands and blame demcoracy in stormont , if they vote to end the protocol , which i dont think the westmisnter elite want , similarly they can blame demcoracy in northern ireland without taking any blame.
Apparently that vote on the protocol is written into the agreement johnson signed up to.
As for the economy , you are having a laugh mate arent you? The economy is tanking. Im reading people are getting doors kicked in by sheriff officers and pre payment meters installed due to the energy crises. Inflation is through the roof. Business and consumer confidence is tanking , public services are struggling .
If you are sitting hopeing the tories can avoid a rainy day guess what .....its raining. The tories are toast. Barring a miracle .

Yup. You told me and I told you . I’m not hoping for anything . Don’t count your chickens of doom just yet but keep your fingers crossed . If you don’t get your wish then just keep repeating to yourself “ all roads lead to independence “ until you feel better .

I dont think all roads lead to independence , and im sorry if im giving you that impression. Hope and think are two different things.
Similarly , im not counting any chickens. I dont want a labour government. Keirs starmer and his red tory party are as much my enemy politically , and economically speaking as they are yours. Im merely musing about what i "think " might happen as this is a political debating forum for sharing opinions no?
To get back to the op , nothing to see here , move on , another load of old tory waffle , and northern ireland remains in the EU three years on and counting , and nearly seven years from the democratic vote.

More like speculation from your good self . I know that you don’t want a Labour government. You want an SNP government in an independent Scotland and see what happens from there . An incompetent Westminster government either real or perceived moves the prospect closer .

I want scottish independence and a scottish government.
Sorry but this made me laugh mate. Are you implying that us jocks are deliberately making westmisnter govern england badly to gain independence?
When westminster shoots itself in the foot bentley , the only people to blame are your own politicians and those who elects them. You have spent the last 40 years blaming europeans and the EU/EEC for englands decline and loss of empire , now three years on , out of the EU , its the jocks fault for England having shite politicans , shite political parties and being the only country in europe with a dodgy two party fptp stitch up of a system.
England problems with governance go far far deeper than jocks taffs paddies or foreigners across the watter.

Of course they speculate . Not strange to remind point it out when it occurs . The sentence never suggested that . I’m not sure how you came to think it did . Im not sure how you came to convince yourself that anyone blamed the EU for the Uks loss of empire . We lost that long before we joined. Im not sure how you think the empire was only England’s . Scotland was complicit in every aspect . You seem to be making things up , well you don’t seem to be , you are .
