To be FINED 5 million begs the question, just how creative can one ex chancellor be? Apparently that was the highest fine that can be imposed. He was NOT FINED £5 million. More lefty spoon fed bullshit. |

More lefty spoon fed bullshit. Peston and other journalists are reporting that the amount of times zahawi has breached the ministerial code over 18 months period if not more is unheard of.
The idea he did no include an HMRC investigation into his tax affairs in his declaration of interests until 16th january is comic.
Im beginning to think the tories are deliberately wanting to lose the next election.
Keir starmer , probably the most inept labour party leader since michael foot , and even then i would say foot had an air of originality about him that the wooden starmer doesnt , is going to fall into power off the back of a discredited two party fptp system and his opposite number being full of bigger incompetents than his own party . That tells you al you need to know about the shocking state of uk politics.

The trouble with clowns like zahawi , is the arrogance and lack of humility , and not knowing the fine art of stealing subtly.
On top of that , guido reporting zahawi is determined to stand at the next GE shows a complete lack of awareness. I really do believe these tories are either exceptionally stupid and incompetent , or are trying to throw the election for starmer to pick up the pieces and take the flak.

I don't think Zahawi sat at his PC and filled in a self-assessment form. Like all people who are very rich he almost certainly handed all his documents to his accountant and told him/her to make sure he paid the minimum amount of tax - without breaking the law. And the accountant probably did that. But the HMRC disagreed and asked for more. That may have been because the HMRC got it wrong or because the law has changed on whatever "vehicle" he was using to minimise tax - or because the accountant got wrong. We don't know. In my experience the HMRC get every tax calculation wrong but I don't bother to argue any more because they're impossible to deal with. It takes months and you never get anywhere.

He clearly knew of the HMRC investigation and his wrongdoing ,but kept quiet of the affair till he had to acknowledge it.
The idea no matter how rich you are , you have no idea of your wealth income and tax liability is laughable. Zahawi would know down to the last penny what his wealth income and liability is. Passing the buck to some unkown and allegedly dopey accountant doesnt wash with me , or millions of others.
clearly an absolute liability for himself , his boss sunak , and the tory party in general. Puerile excuses arent going to wash with this one.
