And good riddance to the liar.
And just think, this man was entrusted with the country's finances!

And good riddance to the liar. And just think, this man was entrusted with the country's finances! just read about that andrew. Certainly this is like a re run of the end days of the major government , as the tories start imploding left right and centre with their sleaze and corruption.
Anything can happen in politics of course , but the question now is how low are the tories going to fall at the next general election. ? I think we are talking annihilation .
Banana republic stuff.

I used to cringe when he was on the morning round of Tory propaganda in the media. He would lick the backside of any Tory politician who was misbehaving or under suspicion of poor conduct. And there were a lot of them.
The fact that he was Chancellor and tried to fiddle the national revenues when the general standard of living was falling, he used those beloved Tory off shore tax havens to benefit himself instead of helping the country by merely obeying the law. His law.
Why am I not surprised? I AM delighted. One more down...how many more until the election ?

Good riddance. He was lauded as a bright light and role model of diversity and immigration.

Pretty low Tommy, although with Starmer trying to match the Tories' every move I doubt that it will make much odds. We will have a Conservative government come 2024 regardless of whatever party gets in.
The only problem is all the dreary bastards on here wanking themselves to death in an orgy pompous righteousness because Zahawi was a little creative with his accounting.

Creative accounting? I tell you borkie , i do wonder about the intelligence levels in the tory party.
Just when you think sturgeon coudnt be any more stupid , along comes a tory to take the political limelight off her.
Am enjoying myself borkie. Just wait till labours rachel reeves gets her hands on the uk wallet.
meanwhile , we have 16 months or so left of the tory muppet show by my reckoning.

It appears to be the case that you do not understand the objectivity levels that motivates Centre-left and Centre-right politics. "because Zahawi was a little creative with his accounting". That cheered me up no end, thanks.

That cheered me up no end, thanks. well , despite the polls and the tory party turmoil , i would never underestimate the ability of keir starmer to shoot himself in both feet. I see the prince of darkness , peter mandelson , openly lauding keir starmer while having his photo taken with the labour leader , something starmer has been carefull to avoid up till now.
Despite all this , the next general election for westmidden does have a ring of inevitability about it.
Its going to be fun watching this latest incarnation of new new labour deal with governance. Gone will be the days of reeves , lammy and starmer cackling from the sidelines , while sitting on their hands saying nothing policy wise.
When they start enacting their BRINO policy of tying the uk into the EU in all but name , thats when the fun really will begin.
Didnt new labour write the book on creative accounting anyway?

To be FINED 5 million begs the question, just how creative can one ex chancellor be? Apparently that was the highest fine that can be imposed.

He was not fined £5 million , HMRC when investigating his company finances registered in Gibraltar and found that there was an error in his accounts, which as the end of the day they considered him to be careless with his accounts no intent to evade taxation not paying the full amount of taxes due, therefore he had to pay back taxes, plus a financial penalty.
He has been sacked quite rightly for breaking the Ministerial Code

A rare post Handyman, accurate, balanced and without drama, it is no big deal, the bloke made an error and did the right thing. That is in no way comparable to leading the country into a perverted Sodom and Gomorrah nightmare of transvestites and freak shows, quite a different thing altogether.

He has not been fined When HMRC assess a tax underpayment for whatever reason ,disagree with a submission or the submission is late the taxpayer: 1)Pays the underpayment 2)Pays interest on the underpayment at predetermined rates 3) Pays a penalty to HMRC at predetermined rates There is no fine and no loss to the Treasury

Except that the head of HMRC told a parliamentary committee this week that "nobody receives a penalty for a mistake". So we can assume from that it was more than just a mistake. However he was actually sacked for not reporting that he was being investigated.

Three cheers for the sleazy corrupt tory party om.
Zahawi was that much of a principled politician who had merely made a small error( no laughing at the back please) that sunak had to sack him.

All these puerile excuses about tory corruption , of which zahawi is merely the latest , is wearing extremely thin.
