Hate to break this to you, but the 2016 indy ref was a poll of the whole sovereign country, not just Scotland.
51.9% of Brits including more than 1 million Scots voted for UK independence. Without the votes of the 349,442 Northern Ireland area voters 1,018,322 Scotland area voters, and 854,572 Welsh area voters, leave would have been 15,188,406 votes to 16,141,241 votes and remain would have won.
Sulk all you like, you LOST.

This is a scottish thread on scottish culture , and al lthe way through it you are discussing scottish opinion with me ( what scottish voters voted for and scottish crystal ball gazing) , and when presented with those facts , you run away back to screaming brexit as a british vote , which as we have discussed ad nauseum was blown out the water when boris johnson left part of the uk in the EU.
The only person sulking about democracy in action vinny , and people not sharing your opinion is you.

Based on your taste in poetry, I can see why you might not appreciate Burns. I'd suggest you give some of his other poetry a try - Tam O'Shanter is a rollicking good tale, for instance, but on second thoughts it's best enjoyed in the original and would almost certainly lose something in translation. "William Topaz McGonagall was a Scottish poet of Irish descent. He gained notoriety as an extremely bad poet who exhibited no recognition of, or concern for, his peers' opinions of his work. He wrote about 200 poems, including "The Tay Bridge Disaster" and "The Famous Tay Whale", which are widely regarded as some of the worst in English literature." ~Wikipedia are you implying my mate om has bad taste in poetry ripley?
Nothing gets past you, I see.

LOL!!! You don't know your history or the meaning of the word "democracy". The Union of the UK has its origins in the Union of the Crowns, when a series of Scottish rulers took the throne after the death of Elizabeth 1 who died with no heirs. In less than half a century of monarchic union there was a nine year period of civil wars started by a Scottish dictatorial King and ended by Oliver Cromwell. In just over a century, the will of Scotland was to sign the Act of Union 1707. There was no new vote on the matter until 2014 and Scotland is happy with the arrangement even if you are not willing to respect the majority vote of Scotland which has consistently voted against the fascist SNP.

You do realise we are talking about the political union which happened in 1707 vinny. Scotland was an independent country apart from cromwells reign of terror prior to that.
The monarch is head of state of many independent countries , and you do realise that scotland could be politically independent , but keep the monarch.
I know its all a bit confusing for you vinny , but stick with us , we can help.

You're blaming Cromwell for the dictator King's reign of terror? He declared war against Parliament and against the people. Jeez.
I realise Scotland wasn't a democracy back in the 17th Century, but neither was England, and in 1707 when the Act of Union was signed, our combined sovereign country still wasn't, it took until the 1920's to become a true democracy.
But from 1707 to 1993 there was no EU. From 1993-2020 the UK was in the EU. In 2016 the vote of the whole sovereign country was 51.9% to 48.1% to leave the EU, or incase you want the actual vote, 17.41 million votes to 16.1 million votes.
You were outvoted by your brother Brits.
