Diet challenged ? Well, I had Haggis, neeps and tatties for tea. Burns wasn't always right you know. And, the reason Scotland is part of the UK is now because 2,001,926 voted in opposition to YOU. You lost. It is not for you to bully them. It is for you to respect them and accept democracy rather than whinging like some Bells drinking waster who is out of cheap blended. Scotland voted to stay in the UK knowing full well about the referendum on membership of the EU promised in 2013 by David Cameron as well as the UK Independence Party's win in 2014 which included a significant amount of Scottish votes. www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-21148282You know full well that that win meant the next general election would be won by a party committed to holding a UK referendum on EU membership. And the membership of the EU was held by the UK not Scotland. When the former Prime Minister announced the referendum, instead of working with him, the EU worked against him. www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-politics-21157824Europhiles tried to block it but made themselves unelectable. www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/may/26/ukip-european-elections-political-earthquakeThere weren't significant reforms or repatriations of power. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-35622105 The EU didn't make the concessions he asked for and we voted leave. The UK's NET VOTE included over a million Scots. So stop bitching and start working with us.

Here is William Mcgonagall, not a complaint in sight, much more cheerful,
Immortal Robert Burns of Ayr,
There's but few poets can with you compare;
Some of your poems and songs are very fine:
To "Mary in Heaven" is most sublime;
And then again in your "Cottar's Saturday Night,"
Your genius there does shine most bright,
As pure as the dewdrops of the night.
Your "Tam O'Shanter" is very fine,
Both funny, racy, and divine,
From John O'Groats to Dumfries
All critics consider it to be a masterpiece,
And, also, you have said the same,
Therefore they are not to blame.
And in my own opinion both you and they are right,
For your genius there does sparkle bright,
Which I most solemnly declare
To thee, Immortal Bard of Ayr!
Your "Banks and Braes of Bonnie Doon"
Is sweet and melodious in its tune,
And the poetry is moral and sublime,
And in my opinion nothing can be more fine.
Your "Scots wha hae wi' Wallace bled"
Is most beautiful to hear sung or read;
For your genius there does shine as bright,
Like unto the stars of night
Immortal Bard of Ayr! I must conclude my muse
To speak in praise of thee does not refuse,
For you were a mighty poet, few could with you compare,
And also an honour to Scotland, for your genius it is rare.

Thank you Ripley, very good of you, now having read it I can see that it would appeal to a certain type of Scotsman, maudlin and grievance based, I much prefer William McGonagall whose poetry is more lively and less self pitying. Based on your taste in poetry, I can see why you might not appreciate Burns. I'd suggest you give some of his other poetry a try - Tam O'Shanter is a rollicking good tale, for instance, but on second thoughts it's best enjoyed in the original and would almost certainly lose something in translation. "William Topaz McGonagall was a Scottish poet of Irish descent. He gained notoriety as an extremely bad poet who exhibited no recognition of, or concern for, his peers' opinions of his work. He wrote about 200 poems, including "The Tay Bridge Disaster" and "The Famous Tay Whale", which are widely regarded as some of the worst in English literature." ~Wikipedia

Scotland voted to stay in the UK knowing full well about the referendum on membership of the EU promised in 2013 by David Cameron as well as the UK Independence Party's win in 2014 which included a significant amount of Scottish votes. There had been mutterings about eu(eec) membership in england for forty years , but nothing was taken serious until cameron put it in his manifesto for the 2015 general election , some 8 months after the scot indy ref.
Not only did cameron have to win the 2015 general election , but polls clearly showed a majority backing remain. Then , brexiters still had to go on and win the 2016 referendum , which even farage thought they had lost on the night of the vote.
So the idea scots voted to remain in a uk that was definetly leaving the eu as you imply is of course more of your historical revision and the nonsense we have come to expect from you vinny. The opposite was true of course.

Gave you proof that the referendum was official Conservative policy in 2013, in the manifesto of 2014 to try and prevent the UKIP win, and after that win, the referendum was inevitable. You went into 2014 knowing that the UK Indy Ref was going to happen and that UK independence was a possible outcome, you're in no position to cry about it or support the rogues of the SNP who would sell out Scotland to the EU.

Here we go, we read the Burns poems, all hand wringing ang whinging, on and on about the English, William McGonagall was more interested in writing about the good things in life, rail disasters and the like, this is more uplifting than grumbling on about mice,
And your Tramways, I must confess,
That they have proved a complete success,
Which I am right glad to see …
And a very great improvement to Bonnie Dundee.
What could be finer than that.

Re read my previous post to you on the matter and follow from there. There was nothng inevitable about the referndum until it actually happened.
Im sorry you lost the EU referendum in scotland , but dont blame me for english brexiters failing to convince a majority of scots to vote leave.
On top of that , recent polling in scotland has rejoin over 70 % .

He was Prime Minister, he made it official government policy in 2013. The UK Independence Party then went on to win the 2014 EU elections making the referendum centrepiece in the 2015 election. By not offering the referendum, Labour made their own defeat inevitable. January 2014, a referendum bill was debated by the Lords. publications.parliament.uk/pa/bills/lbill/2013-2014/0063/amend/ml063-I.htmen.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Union_(Referendum)_Bill_2013%E2%80%9314It was effectively blocked by the Lords. Then in 2014, the United Kingdom Independence Party got 4,376,635 votes. Your parcel of rogues got 389,503 votes. Later in the same year, Scotland staying in the United Kingdom got 2 million votes. Your rotten lot have never come close. So much for a Scottish love of the European Union.

He was Prime Minister, he made it official government policy in 2013. vinny , a promise isnt official government policy. Im not going to get into another long round of arguing semantics with you , the fact remains nothing was concrete till after the 2015 general election , and the referendum itself.
No one knew till after the referendum that the uk was going to leave the EU. So the idea scotland knew for a fact england was going to leave two years after we voted to stay in the uk that was in the eu at the time is laughable. Up to the night of the brexit referendum , farage himself as i said had thought brexiters had lost , yet in your desperation to re write history , you try and paint leave as a forgone conclusion in 2014?
Absolute waffling nonsense.
If leave was a forgeone conclusion , then why did so many scots vote to stay in the EU in 2016 if they wanted to stay in the uk that was apparently leaving the eu two years beofre it actually did?
