I think that is a sensible post making a valid point. The Tory landslide was due to Brexit, and I suspect the SNP support is solely due to Independence.

But its not up to you to determine what an election is about - just because you have an obsession with Independence that doesn't mean that the priorities of others should be ignored. If people want to make their views felt on the Health service, Education, Taxation etc etc.. why should they be forced to forego that expressing of an opinion just to satisfy you?. They may not give a hoot about independence and feel that there are other issues far more important to their lives.. Hi pacifico I think the electorate can hold several concepts at once. Why did the red wall crumble? Because getting Brexit done was the most important thing to that electorate. So important that they voted conservative, whatever else they thought of them.
If support for scottish independence surged, then the SNP would wipe the floor with everybody else. Or are you saying that wouldn't happen? I don't have an obsession with independence. I'm on the fence with it and just want a way that the decision about the constitution being with the people living in Scotland. That only applies if you think that the only issue that settled the last election was Brexit - it wasn't. No General Election is a single issue campaign - and you cannot force it to be one.

Not true pacifico.
The 1918 uk general election was a single issue campaign for sinn fein. The single issue was irish independence , where in their manifesto they promised if they got the majority of irish seats ( they won 73/105) they would take ireland out of the union.
Further , Margaret Thatcher endorsed this single issue campaign in scotland during the eighties when she told us that if we wanted independence , all scots had to do was vote in a majority of nationalist mps to scottish seats. She said no true english demcorat would stand in scotlands way....

So what are you waiting for - Nationalists already have a majority of MP's, who I assume had in their election manifesto that Scotland should be Independent. If that is all it takes why all the talk - why not some action?

Well you and your fellows tell me engerlund is sovereign , and westmisnter rule absolute.
So knowing that engerlund aka the uk and its sovereign powerfull parliament voted to leave the eu in 2016 , and yet still the northern irish part of it remains in the EU according to kate hoey , why all the talk ? Why arent you taking northern ireland out?
We at least have the poor excuse we arent (yet) a sovereign independent country , and merely have a devolved parliament.
Your though is the only country i know that voted to leave a union with 27 others ,but cant bear to be apart from scotland , yet despite telling us for the last 7 years it was about taking back control , proceeded to give control over a constituent part of the uk territory to foreigners. You couldnt make this shite up.

You said all it needs is to elect a majority of nationalist MP's to scottish seats - well you have that and you still are doing nothing. You then start on about England - well the campaign to leave the EU began 30 years ago and has succeeded in its aim - compared with the Scottish independance campaign that started almost a hundred years ago and is still talking about it..

i answer your question and you prevaricate yet again onto something else.? What do you mean something else? you said no uk general election could be used for a single issue , i pointed out the 1918 general election was used as a single issue for sinn fein. I then merely repeated Thatchers infamous words to you that scotland could use a general election for a single issue on independence.
That was the normal democratic route , long standing prior to the 2014 indy ref.
If you want to divert onto asking "why dont you then" , then i will retort by asking why havent you taken northern ireland out the EU?
It works both ways....

No the Tory landslide was because of racism and the hate filled English with Johnny Foreigner Plus to many brown faces in Tesco. Not to mention it was a choice between two absolute toss pots Both unfit to hold a candle, never mind the highest office in the land. The next election will again be between two tosspots. One a lying continuation of Bojoke and the other Just a Tory wearing red. But at least as far as i can make out. Starmer is honest. Other than that. Just another little Englander government carrying on with a race to the bottom and with bankruptcy, destroying lives. . . Dragging energy rich Scotland with it. And the SNP support is due to pot holes, affordable housing, education, the NHS, free prescription, university places and so on. . All of which you have had in detail and shown it is ten to 90% worse in bankrupt England. What's up. Run out of shite about a ferry cockup.

But that didnt mean that anyone else had to treat it as such - I already made that point. As for Thatcher - she has been dead for 10 years and out of power for over 30 - if you are going to try and use her pronouncements as a legal precedent I think you will struggle.

Jaydee says, Just another little Englander government carrying on with a race to the bottom
In the unlikely event that anyone reads or believes any of his rubbish, I would just like to bring their attention to the type of person that Jaydee votes for, only in Scotland under the pervert friendly SNP government could people like this be acceptable. wingsoverscotland.com/the-grooming-of-holyrood/

If you are not going to bother asking the people what they want then just declare independence - don't fuck about. So you are happy with a Prime Minister who was elected by nobody. Thats your check and balance. Ah well. But we don’t elect a prime minister and we do not elect a head of state. In case you had not noticed, or were totally ignorant of history and the constitution such as it is, we the people elect from among ourselves one to go to Westminster there to govern or LOYALLY oppose in the name of their majesty in B thh by e best interests of their constituents according to their best judgement and conscience. Well that’s what is SuPPOSED to happen And their Brittanic Majesty is constitutionally required to select s trusted advisor to go to that place as their prime minister and there attempt to form from those elected a government to govern in their name. And there is no constitutional requirement for the prime minister to be an elected MP These days the process has been warped in that the leader of the majority party is accepted by the sovereign as the person who shall take that place as their most trusted advisor but I personally think we should say fuck that go back to having a government drawn from a group of elected MPs who agree to work with a person chosen by the sovereign to be the prime minister. I think that would solve a lot of problems.
