The senior officer cadre.
The people now being tasked with solving the problems are, in large part, the same ones whose policies helped to create those problems in the first place.
The fish rots from the head down.

Supposition, without knowing what it would be like now without what you describe as a purge It's a reasonable supposition. If you implement extraordinary measures to improve something and it instead dramatically deteriorates, it's reasonable to suppose something about your plan was sub-optimal Politicians, media tosspots, diversity / oppression experts, feminists and other assorted professional grievance mongers. All these people have been paid, and in return, the public have received a police force that (I'm led to understand) would likely fail a roadside intoxication test

Over the last few decades senior police officers have gone from being time served coppers to political appointees for whom being “On message” (whatever the political message of the day happens to be) is more important than quality policing. Operation Midland is a good example: The senior management decided that the mantra “We will believe our victims” was more important than the *ABCs of objective investigation. As a result, a number of high profile figures were arrested and had their reputations seriously damaged on nothing more than the unsubstantiated say-so of a nutcase. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_MidlandAnd of course none of the senior officers responsible were punished, indeed most were subsequently promoted. And of course there's Rotherham, where fear of racial complaints lead to the police looking the other way. For decades. That's what happens when policing becomes subservient to politics: It becomes institutionally corrupt. From the top down
*Assume nothing, Believe no one, Check everything.

The fish rots from the head down. They could be desribed at best maybe well intentioned at worst totally inept but corrupt? imo not.
It is possible to stamp out racism and misoginy in the police, not easy granted but possible to do and maintain standards that sees them pursue their purpose and fight crime.
Perhaps if they hadn't suffered the cuts too it might've helped.
They do a difficult and often dangerous job, that we are seeing the worst appearing in court should be seen as a good sign, the idea once was all good is false.

*Assume nothing, Believe no one, Check everything. Police force that 'ignored' decades of sex abuse in Telford over fears investigating Asian men would 'inflame racial tensions' reported 75% DROP in sexual offences that result in charge or summons over last five years West Midlands Police has seen a significant decrease in sexual offence charges New FOI data shows a stark decrease in the number of convictions from 2016 WMP said it had 'let victims down' in the past but is working hard to improve An enquiry found an 'absence of policing' on child sexual abuse for decades

[/quote] Well it would be if they existed to any great extent. But they don't. Allegations of "Racism" and "Misogyny" are however a wonderful smokescreen, eagerly seized upon by the top brass to distract from their institutional corruption and incompetence. And they can claim extra kudos from pretending to solve these fictitious issues. And it's all believed by the gullible who take this nonsense at face value. But then of course that's the plan and all part of the politicisation of the police.

Police have considerable powers so it’s important that those wielding those powers operate to the highest standards. The police have always been politicised to one extent or another, who thinks police and crime commissioners a good idea? The police and the way they operate is unique here compared to the rest of the world,Ive seen policing at its worst and also at its best. You might think me gullible or this all nonsense but they stand between us and chaos to want the best is something we all want surely?

I understand that misogyny and racism aren’t part of all those who are police officers or that it doesn’t exist elsewhere but it isn’t fiction. I some ways it is far worse than a mere fiction because of what is implied by the overloaded political terms (misogyny) - ie the wide open discretion with no rational boundaries Perhaps reminiscent of a witch-finder inviting you prove there is no 'witchery' in the village or a Nazi asking you to show that there is no 'Jewish thinking' in the police force

That there are some racist and misogynistic people in the police force which is a fact, they don't have to be a majority because they’re not but they do have to be removed for the reasons I gave earlier and that their presence discredits the majority who are not but they find their job so much harder and public distrust increases.

Sorry - i wasn't writing very clearly The vagueness allows the wide open discretion which is an ideal vehicle for corruption.

Sorry - i wasn't writing very clearly The vagueness allows the wide open discretion which is an ideal vehicle for corruption. And is also a cover for ineffective so-called reforms — and an excuse for doing nothing… A guiding principle, 'something must unarguably be done because of a vague problem' is not going to result in any organisational improvement. Such a notion is just going to act as a vehicle for corruption and powerplays. For reference, take a look at the various historical attempts to identify and prosecute witches. The police (as an organisation) have been set running in circles chasing phantoms and the corrupt and dishonest have made out like bandits. So much damage has been done that it may not even be retrievable as a social institution

Just been watching the Judge pass sentence , not long enough IMO but being and ex cop it will feel longer for him a target , he will probably be placed in a Sex Offenders Wing but he might not even be safe there either , as he allegedly has tried to top himself whilst on remand he may not do the time
