Yes that is why trials were carried out by Private Companies who hired them out in London and a couple of other Cities, you have to be at least 16 years of age to hire them, the Police have taken action action against private users and have authority to seize them when used unlawfully . Some of them have caused fires in the owners homes when charging them faulty batteries or overcharging Legislation I believe is being changed or has been, lots of uses have had accidents bad ones on them, and pedestrians have been hurt by them www.techradar.com/news/are-electric-scooters-legal-in-the-uk.. You don't get this bullshit in China. All the kids zoom around on them and they are very skilful so they don't hit anyone. You want a nanny state full of couch potatoes which can't do sod all because they were never allowed to do anything in case they had an accident. It seems to me there is nothing more fascist than democracy, where the moany gits shout the loudest.

It’s about time they banned these fat useless arseholes on mobility carriages. They block the frigging isles in supermarkets and pavement’s and are used to batter other able bodied people out of the way. And why are they not given a taxation class and at least a third party insurance requirement?

There are a number of single track roads locally and an old chap (I'd guess mid 80s) who takes his daily constitutional in his mobility carriage along the route from my house into the local village. I have no problem with it, and find it really very funny when he engages in his regular routine of displaying the middle finger as he passes pull in points.
One of my neighbours was talking to me about getting the local plod involved because of this outrageous gesture. I managed to dissuade her by explaining he was simply using hand signals to indicate his intention to carry on straight ahead.

About fucking time
The unlit streets of our town are a menace at night with balaclava wearing thugs racing up and down the pavement terrifying the few pedestrians who brace the streets.
Deliveroo and Just Eat twats here seem to all use the same device, an off road monster capable of 50 mph (one was caught on the bloody M4 exceeding the Welsh assembly twats imposed 50 limit admitttdly downhill) the bike has no lights and they seem to enjoy shooting red lights in blackout garb
Every one of these is bloody illegal and the plod need to start clamping down

Better they banned the sale, other than special places for using these contraptions they're neither safe on the roads nor on pavements; do you have one? Halfords have a sign up declaring they cannot be used on pavements or roads but no one seems to stop them Our labour councillor wants the law overturned I hope he has the experience I had the other month while trying to walk to the pub in the town centre. The only legal electric bikes look very much like Raleigh twenty shoppabikes and have a max powered speed of 17 mph although they can be manually pedalled faster of course. I own one, it can reach 25mph on the flat and over 35 downhill but it has LED lights more powerful than, and disc brakes and suspension akin to, the gear on the Honda Camino moped I owned in the 70s. It has two battery packs and two power settings. It does about ten miles on full electric assist, twenty on half assist so 40 miles range if you carry the spare A child of 14 may legally ride such a ‘pedelec’ on a cycle lane or roadway and there are ample such round here. It needs no helmet, insurance or road tax as it is classed as a bicycle. I have no issues with my grand daughter nicking it - but she will be wearing a helmet and leathers if she does - in a year and a half when she hits 14.

Idiot drivers can be dealt with by driving bans and fines — these penalties can be severe if they’re uninsured and unlicensed.
Luckily, the Police do manage to apprehend many drivers who break the laws.
Surprisingly, illegal electric bikes and scooters (and unruly cyclists) seem to be immune from control over most of London.
Let’s hope electric scooters and bikes are coming under more control…

Yeah but they are illegal because people like you and many others on the thread want the government to make them illegal.

This is a bastard approach and one I recall when I was a child, but much worse now. I've seen what it does. You fuck with the kids and the kids will grow up to hate you, and then they will get really bad.
