You're right, I didn't watch it. I was at work. If I've missed something, please feel free to contribute to the debate.

What kind of ridiculous, intellectually challenged answer is that? You have utterly failed to explain what the left have to do with anything when the right has an 80 seat majority. What do you mean by everything? Or don't you actually know? Is it the left or the right who are holding the country to ransom with strikes?
Is it the left or the right who comes up and uses all this woke bullshit?
Is it the left or the right that practices all pushes for all this diversity bollocks?
Is it MP's from the left or the right who are supporting the twats on strike at the picket lines?
Is that commie bastard Mick Lynch from the left or right side of politics?
Is it the majority of those from the left or the right who are still smarting over brexit?
Is it the left or the right who would have us back into the fucking EU if they had their wqy?
You only have to look on this forum and see the bullshit like the majority want another referendum or who wuld vote remain.
The right. The right. The right. The left. The left. The right. The right. The right are the government and have the ability to do or not do they choose what suits their wealth each time.

Rishi Sunak unveils 'five promises' to get Britain back on track: PM says he is taking 'urgent action' o he said. 'We will halve inflation, grow the economy, reduce debt, cut waiting lists, and stop the boats.'n NHS chaos, slams 'misinformation' from unions over strikes, and vows to tackle Channel migrants as he delivers first big speech since entering No10. ....................... ukpoliticsdebate.boards.net/thread/new/3Ho Ho Bleedin' HO! More bollocks. We've had 13 years of Tory promises and look at the mess we're in!!. And half of you lot are too busy criticising Starmer to see what a twat Sunak is turning out to be! Why hasn't he been doing something about the problems already? | He's too busy trying to get more immigrants beds in four star hotels. I don't like Sunak, never did. But I'm not blinkered enough to think Covid, the war in Ukraine and the cost of living crisis is the fault of the Tories. The Eurozone is in the same situation, are the Tories to blame for that too? I do however agree that the Tories, with Macron, are to blame for the cross channel illegal migrant crisis. Cameron promised to get a grip of immigration, as did May, Boris and now Sunak. Illegal immigration from France could be stopped, the problem is the government are frightened of upsetting the EU. And where does Starmer stand? What does he think of cross channel illegal immigration, hotels full of illegals, Brexit, the EU, Trade Unions holding the country to ransom, queues at A&E etc etc. Does anyone know? Starmer is noticeably quiet on the big issues and that's because he is terrified of saying anything that may reduce Labour's lead in the polls. Indeed he has told Labour MP's to keep their heads below the parapet even warning them they will be kicked out of the Labour party for criticising of all things, NATO. It seems to me that during the next general election the electorate will not be voting for the best politicians to run the country. They will be voting for the best of the worst. As much as I disagree with the way this and previous conservative governments have done business, I know that within 12 months of a Starmer government we will be looking back and thinking, what the hell have we done. I agree I think Starmer is going to set out what he a Labour would do if they were in charge which they maybe, no matter which is in charge after the next GE , Sunak may well not have enough time to put in place what he thinks will work, Labour of course will oppose him all the way no matter what aided by the paymasters the Unions,

So you don't agree with Mick Lynch that: Workers should be paid a decent wage? Safety checks on the railways should not be reduced by 50%? People should not be forced to work unsocial hours? Says more about you than Lynch if you do not.

Sunak has just over a year to keep his promises...or not. Two of them are not in his gift to give...inflation and consequently growth. They are the responsibility of the Bank of England and Putin in Ukraine. The boats issue will take at least a year to come to a court for the first time.
He is another less flamboyant bag of wind.

Says more about you than Lynch if you do not. A ‘decent wage ‘is subjective . Im not sure how many times there should be safety checks and in what context he has claimed this. I doubt that you know either. Somebody has got to work the ‘ unsocial ‘ hours .

So if governments can’t directly influence inflation how come Truss and co managed to do it?

What Rishi-dishy says in BS. The Civil Service run this country not the government, and until those barstewards in Whitehall are held accountable then this nation won't know how to govern itself because it enjoyed Brussels doing
much of the leg-work for it.

They influenced interest rates by proposing to cut taxes at a time of economic stress, not inflation which is largely due to the cost of covid and the war in Ukraine. Neither of which Sunak can do anything about since so many trading partners have the same problem.

Made himself a hostage to fortune. Here's the definitive text www.gov.uk/government/news/prime-minister-outlines-his-five-key-priorities-for-2023Interesting that only 2 of them have defined timing.

Tbh I don’t think that you are any more clued up about fiscal matters than I am 😁

Of course inflation, interest rates, GDP, tax thresholds, growth and investment are all linked. But the BoE sets the interest rates Sunak can do little to control inflation, given the huge pressures covid and Putin are putting on so many economies. The BoE has tried to influence inflation via raising interest rates but the breaking point is close as you and I have to pay more for energy (Putin) and for our mortgages (BOE). Sooner or later the the pull in both directions can cause huge long-term problems.

However I've never really got the concept of how putting hundreds of pounds on peoples mortgages helps with reducing inflation.
Big factors on surging inflation is obviously energy rises, which common sense would tell those in charge that unless they tackle the cost of energy there is little hope of bringing down inflation.

Indeed and it’s not the Bank of England who is responsible for influencing the external factors that will reduce inflation , it’s the government. So to say ..”Two of them are not in his gift to give...inflation and consequently growth. They are the responsibility of the Bank of England and Putin in Ukraine.” is bollocks really .

Says more about you than Lynch if you do not. It depends what else is going on. Who knows what a decent wage is. I do not but I am retired and spend very little and ensure I keep it that way. A reduction in safety checks actually depend on whether you need them or not. We got rid of a major safety check by dispensing with wheeltappers but then the planned maintenance schedules made them superfluous. If people are not 'forced' in some way to work unsocial hours then unsocial hours work will not be done. There is always a choice as they are not slaves. And yes I have worked unsocial hours against my will as part of the job as the job needed it. That is sometimes the nature of employment.
