I've often thought that privatisation, or at least part privatisation of the NHS is inevitable. I've read various pro's & cons of which there are many. But the bottom line the one undeniable fact is that a privatised service must deliver a profit. A private company is unlikely to provide an unprofitable service, which means the service is cut or the consumer, in this case patients, pay for treatment. The NHS budget is £160 billion for the financial year 2023/24, and the service is on it's knees. What is the alternative?
Earlier I half listened listened to someone talking about a cross party board appointed to run the NHS so it becomes less of a political football, an idea that may have some merit. Although I'm struggling to see how it would address cost.

All thats going to happen is that whoever gets in will chuck a few more billions into the black hole and the edifice will limp on in a state of permanent crisis - there simply is not the political will for any significant reform.

The worst forum troll around here which is saying a lot. You may have noticed that people being rude on this forum is the standard mode of operating, so to a degree I have gone native here. I give as good as I get. The other forum sadly seems to have arrived at a crisis point. I do though tend not to be rude to those who post respectfully and reasonably. |
