That's amazing, can't be battery memory (unless they're using NiCads) so must be crap Chinese software
But E-Cars do significantly less miles per charge in Winter. Two reasons
1. Us petrol/diesel drivers use the waste heat from the engine to heat the car. There is no such waste heat from the electric so they have to use charge from the battery to electrically heat the car
2. Much less daylight and more fog means the headlights are on for most of the driving so they (and rear screen heaters etc) are happilly draining the battery
We're seeing about 20% less miles per charge in Mrs K's PHEV, not a range anxiety issue because it's not pure electric but further reasons why we will fight pure electric for ever.
I agree with everything you’ve said.
I have a ten and a half year old Nissan Leaf. I bought it for five grand nine months ago from a dealer who got it from a Gas Network company. I have the log book they used to book it out as a pool car, that they left in it. Over nine years they drove it less than 20 miles a week, using it to do little except virtue signal their green-ness at trade exhibitions, a bit like waving a septic dick in the air.
As collected by me from the Bristol dealer the car had six miles left on its ‘tank’ so welcome to the world of panic viewing zap map to find a charge point.
I will say this, as an EV driver I found initially that other EV drivers were delightful people to chat with while you waited over an hour to refill …. We were a throwback to a bygone age where petrol had to be bought from chemists and the AA kept two fuel cans in every AA box and relied on a members honesty and integrity to leave the money for it in the box and call them on the phone in the box to tell them you had used it.
My paternal grandfather was a Brewery lorry driver and told me this is how things were in the mid 1920s ! A century on and here we go again.
The 2012 model 24kwh leaf does at most 72 miles on a full charge.
In wales where no part is flat you can kiss bye bye to six of that just climbing the average hill.
The windscreen heater steals 10% minimum while it is on
EV motoring is in every way a return to the cold, miserable days of the 1950s Ford Popular with few luxuries and utter miserable discomfort.
The only thing I can look forward to is when I run over and kill some green credentialed politician it will be their fault as they will have walked into the road with their face in their iPhone and not heard my utterly silent car until they are underneath it.
To date two people have almost gone under it by walking out from between parked vans without looking and one utterly imbecilic woman walked out of a Tesco Express right into the road in front of me without once looking and had I not slowed and shouted at her, her head would have gone where the shopping she dropped in terror at her predicament went, straight under the oncoming fully electric and equally silent bus.
I shudder at the trap I almost fell for back in 2012 though. Nissan lied about the range of their cars saying they easily achieved 100 miles on one charge. I was going to buy one of these then, and use it to drive to my client in Ross on Wye 45 miles and two and a half thousand vertical feet away. Had I done so I’d have been totally screwed at the Raglan A40 turnoff on the way home every day.
I had a charger fitted to the house free then, but a number of things happenned to me and the client so I never bought the car then. The one I have now was delivered to the (now gone bust) original dealer at the same time as went to see the range and test drive its ‘sister’ vehicle.
As for cost, the car does about three miles on a kilowatt over whatever. At 18p a unit That was 6p a mile when I bought the car. Now it’s 50p a unit before the government £60 refund and Coffee shops and motorway services charge 65p a unit.
I only need to drive thirty miles a fortnight to go into the office one day in ten. There are NO buses on the last three miles of that journey Cardiffs Liberal Democrat twat abolished the service to the business park the office is in.
The United Kingdom is being dragged back to the days of serfdom and inability to travel and seems to be being brainwashed into enjoying it.
