The main point here is I think the ire is being focussed in the wrong place. It is the council who set the terms of this exclusion zone, and if people are concerned at the police action in implementing the letter of the law -and the reports I saw quite categorically included prayer as a forbidden action - then it is the council, not the police, who have the explaining to do.
The other thing I would point out is that this woman has been identified as the leader of the protest group. She is not there as a private citizen is she.
I had to laugh at the comment regarding the likely lack of action had the protestors been Islamic. The head of one singularly annoying such organisation was finally collared when he stepped over the line. The problem with him was some tosser in our government, and others in our universities, allowed him to change from being a medical student pisshead to a law student who saw a rather useful career in knowing where lines were chalked and knowing where to stand in relation to that line. Choudhyry I believe his name was …

Can you imagine any situation in which the police would dare to ask a Muslim, not arrest, just ask as Muslim if he was praying? No, me neither. This on the other hand, according to the police, is perfectly acceptable - i.imgflip.com/1tqp2o.jpg

The Web page at www.sullivan-county.com/wcva/londonstan.htm might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. This is what my browser says when I have trouble opening up a link think my tablet needs up dating

There is no problem with the link. However, it shows a list of photographs depicting aggresive Muslims who are demanding, among other things, that anyone who insults Islam should be killed, and or, exterminated and that our 9/11 is comming. And they did this with police protection. It would seem 'hate crime' like racism, is a very one way street.

Apparently part of this story is fake put on Twitter by a media outlet in America, as John pointed out in the OP she has been arrested for breaking a Public Protection Order, not for praying silently, she should not have been there and she knew that as she has been arrested before for breaking the same order The PPO was put in place because those opposed to abortion have protested outside the Clinic and women who going to the clinic or working there have been confronted by the protesters on a number of occasions. She was not protesting or confronting anyone - she was standing on the pavement.. It was the supposed praying that gave the Police the excuse to arrest her. The Police have no choice but too arrest her she was breaking the Order put in place to stop any protest near the Clinic, she knew full well that she would be arrested as she has been arrested three previously times for ignoring the Order. The order was put in place to protect the people who live and or work in that specific area from people stood outside their homes and or workplace protesting and annoying them each time they protest on a regular basis, harassing the women who need to attend the clinic etc , it is highly likely the local Council had no choice after many complaints from local residents. She and others can protest as much as they like elsewhere but not in that designated area

A few were demanding, not all are demanding Those images are well aged and as TTL points out they were jailed for those placards.

Seems to me that if you ever get burgled, the only way you'll ever get a police response is to report the burglar for being politically incorrect in some way.

Is the right answer.
