OK Dan, try this. The EU state of France refuses to allow immigrant boats to land on French soil. But the French look the other way as immigrants leave France bound for England. French interior minister GĂ©rald Darmanin even said it was the UK's fault for 'attracting' them. Double standards? Very few migrants arrive in France via the sea. Most travel overland from the East. So why doesn't the EU have a border which would stop such movements?

Looking on a map of France you might see that its sea borders are in its west and south. Most migrants therefore travel over land to arrive in France, Germany, Sweden, and other landlocked EU countries. Spain has problems when migrants come north from Africa but not from Syria, Iran, Iraq or Afghanistan.
