The overall turnout being? 20+ I understand. Won't sound so good when said candidate stands up in parliament and says although I barely represent one in five of my electorate.

Well it seems that all those from all parties with a right to vote but didn't could well indicate that the weather was the major reason reason for not voting.

Given the weather and the foregone conclusion nature of the vote, I think this is one when you have to salute the 25% or so who actually bothered to vote rather than draw major political conclusions.
I am a little surprised just how badly Reform seems to do at elections given they are touted as being a threat. Four by elections since June 1, no deposits retained, not getting into four figures in any nor exceeding 3.5% of vote when you would think low turn outs would favour them percentage wise. A little odd?

A little odd? Pesky populists, probably won't vote for more of their own downfall, I will take a wild stab that come general election time things will be totally different.

Stretford and Urmston has been Labour since Simon de Montfort called the bran dealers and soap boilers to Parliament 800 years ago.
The only surprise would have been the brothers and sisters losing the election

We might give you a job yet Borchester being chief board cutter when we close it down and board it up as a sign we have moved into the new future. Which by some twist of fate 80% of the population agree with me, which makes it a populist policy.

A positive win is obviously better than a positive loss.
