Much of the commentary I recall hearing from the Leave faction was to do with how unfair it was that Polish potato pickers could just waltz in while Indian computer scientists with PhDs had to jump through all sorts of hoops.
A 'level playing field' was what was called for as I recall, not a moratorium on all immigration as used to be party policy before Nige took over the reins.
Come to think of it, if it weren't for the boats I don't believe we'd ever hear a peep from him and his current team.

Leaving the EU was supposed to lead to control of our borders . We couldn’t while we were in the EU. Polish potato pickers were more of a problem with most people who voted to leave than Indian computer scientists..hence the vote to leave l

So many factors you gloss over, schools clogged up with kids that could not speak English, slowing down school progress.
Foreigners from EU claiming for the house benefit Brits could not get.
In the cities EU workers undercutting Brits to get retail jobs.
£140 translation fee for each arrested EU citizen.
Then the crime waves in the cities too perhaps they did not reach the Cotswolds.
That's just a quick recap.

What's wrong with it? Well for a start, the country had and still has a crying need for potato pickers rather than for computer scientists. It doesn't have a computer industry anymore but it does still have lots of chippies.
As for controlling its borders, the country has had that capability since as long ago as the time of Alfred the Great. Various governments at different points in time have elected not to exercise that capability. Including the present and the previous 75 years or so.

Potato’s are picked mechanically now. Well our ones were . They completed several acres over a day . What next ? Do we need Lithuanian scythers to cut our lawns ? As for controlling our borders . The EU stopped us controlling the number of East Europeans coming in. Alfred the Great is dead.

But during the period in question, between Eastern Europeans first appearing in 2004 and the census in 2011, there were still many more non-EU arrivals than free-movement arrivals from the EU. I don't recall any angst about that on the part of the Leave faction. I am well aware of that and as I said these largely inflowing into existing communities and the slow process was always a bone of contention. I said not that the Eastern Europeans were special it is just that it was a new and rapid influx who created whole new areas of difference immediately recognisable and happening at a speed that hitherto had not been seen from the A10 countries. That does not make that immigration special but it means that it suddenly concentrates minds and impacts on many areas hitherto relatively untouched by immigration to any high degree. One could go to the city from the country and be glad to return to the Englishness of the country but that was suddenly changed almost overnight as rural areas succumbed to the influx. Just look at Lincolnshire, Hereford, Leominster, Worcester, Hexham and Carlisle where that sudden change was obvious.

Some areas are have no means to be reached by farm machinery..
I have no idea how many computer proggrammars are required in the UK. Most of that is done via the internet anyway..

Well perhaps students and schoolchildren should once again step into the gap, I was Tattie Howking at 13 and working in a hotel by 17. Hated both jobs but helped with school and college, not to mention car washing at 15, morning paper round at 14. These were all part of growing up and easing into the world of work.

I don't like bullying. Not only is it against the forum rules, but it also makes the perpetrator(s) cowards who need to be called out. Can I assume from your reply that you are OK with the bullying on here?I'm me ,I accept people have their own ways,if people swear that’s not my problem nor is their attitude fo each other, in this case and others TTL is not the innocent victim you portray if you care to look. You have noticed that TTL has become more aggressive toward opposing posters? and if you look at the thread title suck it up you brexiters you got what you voted for all he needed to add was So Ner!. So you get the replies you ask for don't you agree? Anyway isn’t the point we all get things things we favour or not if we vote,if you don’t vote then you have no complaint.

They aren’t potato pickets Jonksy ..they are warehouse stock pickers . You can see that when you look at the jobs in detail.
