Compared to the rest of the world, would you rather live here or somewhere else?
I feel I like it here best. Different places have their positives and have their negatives. My two women are respectively living in Italy and Malta at the moment. Italian woman is a bit miffed about stone floors. Meanwhile over in Sliema, Malta the place is full of dodgy immigrants. It's pretty close to the source, namely Africa. Malta is however pretty warm this time of year. One time I was there at Christmas and it was bright sunshine and 25C. It's nice to be within walking distance of a beach as she is, although in the height of summer it is often unbearably hot. Italian woman though comes from North East Italy near to Venice. It's just as cold there as it is here at this time of year.
I was also listening to this chap on Youtube who had boasted he had lived in some 25 different countries, including all around the Far East, and his view was on the negative side Britain was in a a state of dire disrepair. He cited pot holes, stuff that is out of order, just basic investment in anything to do with public services. On the plus side, he reckoned British supermarkets were the best anywhere. He says the selection of food is unrivalled, and they are good value for money. Another thing he said was good value was the British gym. In Japan it is ten times the price for membership. What he reckoned was a poor show though was eating out. Service is crap, the food is overpriced and crap and it is more trouble than it is worth, and most often a letdown. Two more positives though were the countryside, reckoned to be the most beautiful you will find anywhere, and the British themselves, as in friendly and a good sense of humour.
Yes I know it was just a bloke on Youtube, but I cite him as many of those points I have heard repeated many times. It was just handy to have them all in one video.
So what do you say? Live here or where would you go?

I'd probably go - I'm just getting tired of the weather and the second rate politicians who are more interested in their 'cause' than the welfare of the country and its citizens.

Everything depends on how much money that you have and/ or earn. If I was an illegal immigrant this country would be the best bet .

I like it here.
I have been and worked in various parts of the world and had a lot of fun, but I have always ended up in the the UK
That chap on Youtube did not seem to think much of Britain. That is fair enough and if things get too bad I am sure someone will provide him with directions to the air port.

He was a Brit, but had not lived here for 20 years. He was just blown away regarding the deterioration of the country. Part of the problem he identified regarding poor customer service was to do with people who felt the job was below them. I'm guessing they have some sort of arts degree in Outer Mongolian Studies.

Ten years ago we had the choice between remaining on the West Coast (or elsewhere in the US), returning to the UK or relocating to the EU. We chose the last and have never regretted it.

Well I have travelled quite a bit (including China). Quality of life? Quite varied. I spent several weeks in Central Turkey and that awful. By contrast we had excellent food and lovely company in South Georgia And for the best reasons.................

Thirty odd years ago I had the opportunity to emigrate to Australia. A client of a client for whom I was freelancing offered to sponsor me and give me a job as they had no one with the skills in the technology so I scored about six times the score nec scary to qualify I wish I had, but that would have left Moira's dad and both my parents in shit when the end came so a bit swings and roundabouts.... A number of places I've been on holiday look good, but have no requirement for my skill set.....

Actually he had a sponsor and he had completed the required forms. In the end, he declined the job - his existing salary was more than one the one offered it Ozland.

Today the country exports a lot of uranium, but they still don't have a clue how to enrich it, which would have enriched their profits. This compares to Russia who apparently have top expertise in it.
So there you have it. You might have got a job there doing something useful, but then you might end up in a place where your skills would not be in demand. I hear today the country is very difficult to emigrate to. There is too much demand for their nice beaches. Like with Malta though, the tropical climate brings with it lots of nasty creepy crawly things.

Well, in answer to your question, I worked in aviation for 49 years and 6 months, in that time I worked in 34 countries, some were brief visits for a week or a month or so here and there and some were for slightly longer ( California 6 months, Saudi 18 months, Cyprus 2 years), I have never been anywhere that I prefered to England. I liked Tel Aviv because of the openness there, I liked a couple of places in the States, I liked Norway and Switzerland, I thoroughly disliked France, Australia, Germany and Egypt.
The main reasons that I couldn't live anywhere but here are beer, bookshops, people's sense of humour, Pop Master quiz and driving on the correct side of the road.

Definitely the British sense of humour..........

Unless you are in the fortunate position of being financially comfortable, then the standard and quality of life in the UK is past it's zenith. Believe me for the majority of people, thanks to open borders and mass immigration, it's downhill from here. If what I read is accurate there are currently 7.5 million people on NHS waiting lists, and I believe some of them are actually English... 1 in 5 people cant find a dentist and 1.3 million people on local authority housing waiting lists are constantly pushed further back to make way for illegals who are a huge drain on the welfare system.
Believe me posters the writing is on the wall. It's all comming together it's the perfect storm, mass immigration, net zero and a Labour government. As a country we would struggle to cope with two, but not with all three. If this continues the UK will become just another a third world shit tip, not very eloquent but nevertheless, perfectly truthful.
