Four days after Starmer bribed the train drivers, my weekend break to Blackpool was well fucked.
The outbound journey was fusterclucked by a 20 minute delay in arriving at Newport owing to crew shortages, which was compounded by being stuck for ages at Shrewsbury, ending in cancellation of the train service at that point.
By the time another had come, our onward connections from Manchester to Preston and Blackpool Pleasure Beach had long gone
A journey that should have ended at 3:15pm took until 4:27
Under Transport For Wales Delay-Repay rules, a 60-119 minute journey should be 100% refunded if a single ticket, or 50% refunded if a return.
I bought the tickets at Trainpal, paying £132.57 for split tickets for two for an outbound journey on the 4th Oct to which they offered an open return for a mere £40 included in that £132.57 (and why an odd sum of pennies for two people beats me
Anyway
Transport for Wales accepted my claim for a refund, and are sending me £57.14
What the actual fuck ?
If they are supposed to refund 50% of the return, that should be £65.20 something
If they are ignoring the £40 open return (which by the way was not possible to take as Northern Rail Cancelled ALL services from that station owing to driver shortages) then they owe me 100% of the £92 odd for the outbound
Why the low amount ?
Are TfW deducting a fucking union subscription like the bastard bakery union stole from the last payslip for the overtime the firm I made a million hit cross buns for in 1977 fuckrd up ?
