Oil, Gas, Coal and others similar, are organic and natural; they have very many uses - one being as fuel, as energy. The UK has much of these natural, organic resources 'under our feet' or near-by below the sea bed. We should be using them for our own betterment and security. Technology has moved on and so has the methods of harnessing clean energy. Starmer, Milliband and those on the Net Zero band wagon are there for the benefit of others, donors and their own. Oil and gas is a 'gift from God', Azerbaijan tells Keir Starmer and the Taliban as thinly attended COP26 climate summit descends into farce... while PM commits to 81% cut in emissions.... Starmer committed the UK to a massive cut in carbon emissions at the COP29 summit today - despite the host hailing oil and gas as a 'gift from God'. The PM has confirmed the eye-watering target of slashing 81 per cent off emissions by 2035, compared to 1990 levels. He used a press conference in Baku to deny he will need to tell Brits 'how to live' in order to meet the ambitious goal. But the gathering, snubbed by many world leaders but attended by the Taliban, is at risk of descending into chaos after the Azerbaijan president Ilham Aliyev insisted countries should not be embarrassed about selling fossil fuels. In his opening address, Mr Aliyev hit out at 'unfortunately double standards, a habit to lecture other countries and political hypocrisy' from the West. Arguing that natural resources were a 'gift from God' just like other natural resources, he said: 'Countries should not be blamed for having them and should not be blamed for bringing these resources to the market because the market needs them.' Sir Keir is one of the only premiers from the wealthiest nations in Azerbaijan for the annual gathering, although the Taliban has sent a representative. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14072285/Oil-gas-gift-God-Azerbaijan-tells-Keir-Starmer-Taliban-thinly-attended-COP26-climate-summit-descends-farce-PM-commits-81-cut-emissions.html

Filched from another thread, but it seems appropriate here...
Just listened to Claire Coutinho (Shadow sec for energy security) who said the long term outlook for the UK is higher electricity prices. She said...
...the Secretary of State (Milliband) said that we need to build every possible solar farm and wind turbine going, and that will deliver us cheap energy. But everybody knows that renewables are not cheap and if we don’t have a back up plan [Which we don't] for when the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine, then we could be making the long term cost of electricity much more expensive.
Add to that, Starmer has just said at the virtue signalling COP meeting that the UK will cut emissions by 81% by 2035, up from 78%.
The US, China and even the EU are not nearly as keen on net zero as Starmer is. Perhaps someone should point out to him that he represents a tiny country that produces 0.8% of global emissions.

Gas is a great way to heat a house. You can't beat gas fired boilers feeding a radiator in each room. Which is why Labour don't want us to have it. It's too cheap and energy efficient. Gas boilers really do get nearly all the energy from the gas which it is possible to do. Labour want us to buy electricity, which, domestically, is four times the price of gas per kWh, charge us VAT on it and gain more revenue.
It is senseless to increase current drain on the national grid when there is already an energy deficit at peak times. People will die in power cuts.

He's a fucking lunatic. Where's the heat to pump going to come from? Where's the energy to power the machine going to come from? He's loopy. Build a lot of thorium nuclear power stations and move to fusion when it is commercially viable. At the sea, use excess electricity to produce hydrogen. Inland, capture CO2 and pump it to the coast. Then at processing sites turn hydrogen into methane with a bit of captured CO2, and burn that in combi boilers. Home heating and net zero achieved at the same time. Net zero won't be achieved by Labour's insane methods, but it could be achieved with a bit of thought.
