While being interviewed by Patrick Christys on GB News, ex-Tony Blair aide John McTernan said the government should “do to the farmers what Thatcher did to the miners”. He said he was “personally in favour” of the changes to inheritance tax relief, which mean farms with a net value over £1m will only qualify for 50% agricultural property relief. He added: “If the farmers want to go on the streets, we can do to them what Margaret Thatcher did to the miners.” www.farmersguide.co.uk/business/politics/we-dont-need-small-farmers-says-former-labour-adviser/

This is the guy who predicted labour were going to win Holyrood in 2011 , just before salmond won the snp a landslide. This is the guy who predicted in 2012 there wouldn't be a scot indy ref , or that Jeremy corbyn wouldn't become labour leader in 2015. If he is predicting starmer doing to the farmers what thatcher did to the miners , the farmers will win. I had no idea this muppet was still in business.

I saw that incredible, in politics they say that when you find yourself digging a hole, stop digging, well, he upped the pace of digging there x 10, Thatcher still lives in his infected mind, an evil harpie, its not about reality but vengeance, so left.

We seem to have communists in charge, they have form over centuries of freezing and starving people to death, but they never suffer themselves.

ex-Tony Blair aide John McTernan is not just an idiot he is totally wrong, the National Coal Board closed more Coal Mines due to them being played out, no longer viable and uneconomical long before Thatcher became PM.
Most of the ones left were closed because of the Miners Strike led by Scargill and Union Leaders attempt to bring down the elected Government, they were shut down for so long they fell into disrepair not possible and too costly to reopen them.
Scargill who was well paid simply walked away when his attempt to bring down Thatcher failed

If I recall correctly near Batley in Yorkshire, he also had a nice flat in the Barbican next to the City of London provided free of charge funded by the Miners Union
