Wonder if she is thinking of the ginger growler as an example of how a crass big mouthed thicko can leave school with more kids than exams , join a union and become convener , get sponsored by the union to be an MP in a non sackable job , boast about regular p*ss up sessions on ''venom getting blind drunk , somehow avoid cgt on a profit on a second house bought at a discount , have your clothes and holidays paid for by a labour lord and end up as deputy PM ? Schools must stop focusing solely on exam results and spend more time ensuring pupils feel like they “belong”, Bridget Phillipson has said. In her first major speech outlining her vision for schools since becoming Education Secretary, Ms Phillipson warned that schools were “doomed to fail” if they concentrated on “A*s alone”.

Rayner is a testimony to how you can leave school with more kids than qualifications and sleep your way to the top, I suppose it's one way of doing it, but I think most decent moral women like Kemi Badenoch can be more than proud that she reached the top using her brains and not her f****, and it shows, Kemi is a very smart presentable well spoken lady, in stark contrast to Rayner.

Many pupils may not feel they belong in a society run by Labour, however, more important than belonging, is being educated to a level where one can become a useful member of society, earn a living and develop oneself to best potential.

Belonging is a quite sinister term. When the lefties cancel you then you don’t belong .

In one very narrow line of thought, they don't
I remember my eldest was the first to suffer SATS at the end of her primary school teaching years.
The first year they held them it was hell on earth. I cannot under-describe the utter chaos they wrought on the school, staff, and pupils
During the summer holiday, the headmaster called me. Knowing I was a scientist with a history of using statistics to justify my experimental results, he wanted a favour.
He had come to the school the year Sarah started. He brought with him and idea his first headmaster at his first position implemented
For each pupil that headmaster had required the teachers to maintain a paper record of key achievements. In short when they achieved a reading skill, a spelling skill, a numeracy skill, the teacher initialled and dated a box on a sheet.
It sounds awfully complex, but the reality is the teachers had a written record, in their own hand, if little Johnny's ability and progress which worked wonders at school parents evenings.
David asked me to do him a favour
Sit down with every one of these records, plot them up, estimate a progress curve, and from that compare what the SATS said to what the sheets said and what the teachers predicted.
I was between contracts and over a week while the school was shut for that summer I went and ran the analysis
I found less than 5% discrepancy between the SATS test result, the achievement record of key stage goals V dates, and the teachers own assessments.
I had always wondered if there was in fact any truth in the adsge that exams show us the ability of a pupil to pass an exam.
I found worse than that.
I found that a properly controlled recording of a pupils achievement against set standards constructed for that purpose revealed exams to be a pointless and unnecessary stress.
And given I know a couple of kids in my age group killed themselves because they could not handle that stress, and one of those girls I knew personally, as a friend of my then first serious girlfriend, i take that rather personally.
Education Secretaries who impose pointless exams are murdering scum.
The problem of course is that there is a whole world of difference between a full and frank assessment of one's ability as judged from a portfolio of written work, thesis style reporting, presentation of practical evidence and iral examination, which formed the basis of my acceptance as a full member to my learned society back when I was a postgraduate, and the antics of lefty scum who think that school sports days should award medals for turning up.
But I repeat... The examination system is a piss poor way of carrying out and assessment of one's ability. A student is far better served by a frank assessment of their ability over time as opposed to.theirvabiluty in a two or three hour window on a single day in their life.
