In the Telegraph today their Headline " A“criminal empire” of people smugglers is at work on the continent, Sir Keir Starmer has warned, as he prepares for talks with other European leaders on fighting illegal migration. Who knew ? he really is quick off the mark I believe talks started before they were elected. Its a huge problem across the EU and it will need a joint effort to stop it. The criminals need to know they can't just cross borders and be in the clear.

When we get people who have already been granted asylum in other European countries coming to the UK and claiming asylum again just because they get more handouts here, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that the system is broken. I think Sir Kier mentioned this in his Monday press conference. It requires a new security agreement with the EU. Guarantee the response on this forum to that one... The EU have already rejected that idea - they dont want asylum seekers any more than we do.

And their problem is larger than the UK's , they are now transporting alleged asylum seekers to Albania, back to Turkey, etc

forget the drugs trade, the people trafficking is Big Business now, it beggars belief that it's easier to smuggle in a boat load of people than a stash of drugs/booze/tobacco , try getting past French border control if you've exceeded your duty free allowance ........ FFS its a joke

It was a reply to the suggestion that we have an agreement where we return asylum seekers to countries where they have already applied. The EU do not want them back. If we wanted to keep them out of the UK we could easily do that by ourself - unfortunately there is not the political will.

So what will the UK have to hand over in order to reach such an agreement? BTW if you don't like this forum, as you've made plenty insinuations about it. You are free to foxtrot oscar for good on Monte's and Darling's forum, where no doubt you will be in depressing sync about the re-election of Mr. Trump.

Read an article a while back about the number of illegal migrants forced into working for drug dealers to pay outstanding accounts.
