The US wants peace and a deal because it has become too dangerous, remember for 2 yrs Putin said Ukraine was a nuclear issue for them.
Notice the Middle East is quiet, the Ukraine conflict has really cost the US prestige abroad as hostile forces hit the US left, right and centre. So even the US establishment realised a Trump victory was essential and when the news comes out about their knock backs it will be carefully stage managed because of the economic hits of the market reaction.

US antics in the years after Suez left us bereft of promised defence capability against a far more real russian threat than we face today. I rather worry that the bullshit about an attack on one being an attack on all will be watered down when it happens. |

Good point about Suez, the US was clearly demonstrating they would not tolerate us or France becoming exercising their power remember the US also did not like us sending a task force to the Falklands. NATO was clearly an attempt to warn Russia yet has morphed into a tool for US market domination by force when necessary which in its grab for ever more resources to furnish the trillions of US debt has pushed us to the brink of nuclear with Russia, currently being fought with explosive attacks and even mini-nukes in military theatres outside UKraine. The media has been silenced instead we get nonsense about celebrity stars or 'Princess Di Kate is wearing a new dress' , in all wars propaganda takes over. |

Over in China they call it "the Cold War mentality" what we get in our politics. It's all about trying to find a bogeyman, but Russia is not that bogeyman. Indeed it is crystal clear to any sane Brit who the aggressors are. They are invading this country right now, but the Russians are not.
Actually me personally, I'm pretty impressed with the Russians of late. They don't take any bullshit, where the EU is committing suicide at the behest of Washington. Russia promotes traditional Christian family values where we are getting sick perversions promoted at us.
