How many 1000km range EVs are on the UK market TODAY that are around the price of a non turbo manual ICE vehicle. Maybe one thatcan be refuelled as fast as a petrol car. Use YouTube if your brain can’t manage any other method Why can't you do your own research. It will explain on the site how fast charge times are. I've seen examples of 1km range per second of charge time. Not sure if they are the same batteries. There are many variants. Because they don't want to look outside and see the world racing away from them. They are cosy with their memories of their Ford Capri.

No need if the tank can be filled in a couple of minutes . ICE cars usually have good acceleration and for what I’ve seen an EV with a similar price to an ICE vehicle hasn’t got great acceleration. But please post some shit about how fast top of the range Tesla’s are . Evs do not run on petrol . No wonder you bought a hybrid. Nissan leaf £32000 . Up to ( ffs) 168 miles . 0-60 7.4. Seconds Ford Puma St £32000 0-60 6.7 seconds . Range..indefinite . The Puma is a much better car than the shitty old leaf ..and that’s including acceration. And EV land rover can out accelerate a Maserati. No one ever boasted they bought a cheap ICE car with great acceleration. They boasted its 0 to 60. EV wins that hands down. And people compared MPG or should it be MP£ now, miles per £, Ev rinses ICE again. The only thing the luddites have left is charging time and that's becoming irrelevant as EV's pass the 500mile mark on a single charge. Sure it mattered when EV's did 120 miles on a bad day, but that's history. Much more than that is left. Weight, performance and reliability in cold winters and slave labour in Africa. Weight is critical in some areas particularly on traffic queues on bridges, multistory car parks and road maintenance. Long cold winters so far have not been good for electric cars. The final moral point I would have thought trumps the lot but very few seem to care.

Which Make and model of car is that and how much does it cost?

I remember saying mine had less copper than the Lancia delta.

The facts don't seem to matter to these people. Each time the trivial and chronic impracticability of BEV tech is highlighted, either some reference to one of the few inconsequential advantages of an electric drive is highlighted (like acceleration) or some appeal is made regarding an implausible or distant future technology
This is an ideology based rationalisation, rather than a serious treatment of the subject

In terms of morality you have to pay it attention or not as the case may be. If you do not then the moral high ground is not yours to take even on the pretext of saving the planet.

Everytime an apparent issue is resolved you just move the goal posts. Range anxiety was highlighted by a petrol head driving from London to Birmingham. Now its someone he knows who regularly drives from Lands end to John O groats via Budapest. Its become comic. People like you who never gave a fuck about Africans suddenly concerned about their working conditions. Batteries were dangerous and catch fire, and then we discover far more petrol cars per 100 burst into flames than EV's. Yet somehow that danger never bothered you before EV's Now your reduced to they weight a lot Lol. So do vans and lorries, but no, you are concerned about them not being able to park in multistory car parks. Its really sad.

Everytime an apparent issue is resolved you just move the goal posts. None of the serious issues have been resolved - nor is there much prospect they will be in the foreseeable future. You talk about 'range anxiety' as if the problem is solved simply by having a slightly longer range for BEVS. The thing is 'range anxiety' is just a driver centred description of the problem - ie h ow the driver experiences the problem. The real problem is 1) The relationship between range and recharge times AND 2) The relationship between recharge times and the capacity of the grid to provide power. AND 3) The relationship between recharge times and battery life AND 4) the relationship between battery life and cost This is an intractable problem with just 1 and 2, firstly because the first relationship is not going to change by the order of magnitude needed to provide a reasonable utility, and secondly, because adjusting the second relationship means substantially updating the electric grid - a project that is likely to take a century or more. Even IF you solve the 1st problem (which you can't) you just become subject to the second bottleneck (back to square one) Somebody highlighting these relationships and their interlocked nature is not 'moving the goal-posts', they are explaining to you why there is an intractable problem. The one good point you make is that for some drivers and use cases, BEVS are fine. (i don't think anyone doubts this much)

This is merely another “ let them ear cake ‘ bullshit by another net zero zealot . The reality is that most EVs bought WILL be comparably cheap ones . Thats why I posted a reasonable example and you posted one from planet Zany . A reasonably priced non turbo manual petrol car will outlast an EV , will out range an EV , will be more comfortable on a long runand will be a far better buy for everyone who doesnt have a home charger. Iirc EVs tend to have higher Insurance premiums but I may be wrong Which probably explains why you swerved EVs and bought a hybrid .

You know , I was always convinced climate change was a natural event presented as a problem that needed a solution . Now im convinced it's all Sharon with the big tits fault at number 47 for dropping her kids off at school in the four by four. After having consulted zany from the planet zogg , ive therefore come to the conclusion I need to sell the family diesel , rip out the gas boiler , and spend the rest of my life wrapped in an old itchy army blanket for warmth and comfort dining on bread and water for the good of the universe. im feeling positively self righteous about my decision .

Not at 80p per KWh it doesn't. Even Zapmap admit that if you do not have a home charger you are better off with an ICE car.

They purposely ignore reality and wonder why they are mocked .

You charge the car where you park it. Indeed you really want to leave the charger connected the whole time your car is parked so your car computer can do leccy trading while you go off and have fun.

You charge the car where you park it. how do you charge a car in the street , where there is no charging facilities ,and barely any parking , somewhere like cowcaddens in Glasgow , with 6 storey tenement flats on both sides of the road ?
