What can Commonwealth actually offer to the members apart from meaningless words. Can we offer investment, security, trade or any other advantages to the members. What does it mean climate? Do we have a strategy for these countries, any know how technology or investment plan? We don’t have an answer for our own country let alone the commonwealth. Just empty word! “climate, nature, harmony”

Starmer 'open to non-cash reparations'. According to a report in the Guardian, the government is prepared to discuss forms of 'reparatory justice' that would not come at a cost to the UK taxpayers. Examples are said to include: "making a formal apology, running educational programmes, establishing cultural institutions, providing economic and public health support, restructuring financial institutions and providing debt relief." If the taxpayer is not going to be funding these initiatives, who is? The Labour Party? www.theguardian.com/politics/live/2024/oct/24/labour-budget-keir-starmer-rachel-reeves-imf-uk-politics

That fell at the first hurdle during the run up to the election..

We don't have to be in the EUSSR or the Commonwealth to make deals with Commonwealth state countries...It benefits both sides..

Yes again dumbo Lammy has kicked this all off, while in opposition as usual the BIG GOBS were promising to compensate the world, now they are in power they realise the problems they themselves have caused, and it's them who have to deal with it now, no blaming the Tories, it's not the Tories fault, this lies squarely at the feet of the inept Starmer and Labour party, how are they going to wriggle out of this one .... they are knackered now they can't use their ... it's the Tories fault.

I don't think even Starmer is daft enough to fall into that trap .The Commonwealth leaders may well talk about it but we don't have to listen . Starmer is right when he says we have to look forward not back into ancient history

As you would know most commonwealth countries are former colonies that we abandoned during our EU membership as we came under the blocs protectionist racket . That is being put right and last year we had exports worth £89 billion and imports of £75 billion with our commonwealth friends . The trade between these free nations even costs less ,nominally 20% less than between non commonwealth countries due to a shared legal framework and language . Investment between the nations is also a lot easier for the same reasons along with all the other members not having to agree with it
