So you don’t think it’s a good thing that there could be less cars on the road ? Yes I do think that would a good thing, and I believe it will happen, but I don't believe that EVs will be the cause.

The ones I'm talking about attach to your house, they are your own private charger. They swing out over the pavement and drop down over your car. who in the UK has allocated private parking on a public street?

Unless you are saying that market towns will be cleared and the residents forced to live in cities then there will be people living in the countryside. I'm not sure that the problems of rural public transport are really about the market towns, less of an issue here.

It’s the same thing . The ‘ countryside’ IS the agricultural industry . People just live in the lanes and roads that connect different parts of it. . The reason I asked is that although around 10.5 million people live in rural areas, only 300,000 work in agriculture.
So what are the other 10 million doing there?
Not everyone needs to commute, many people work from home now.

Homebase heads for administration: Jobs and 130 shops at risk after DIY and garden chain lost £84.2m in a year..... Homebase looks to be heading for administration, with the garden chain appointing insolvency experts which could mean jobs and 130 shops are at risk. The troubled chain is preparing to line up Teneo to handle an insolvency process, after it announced a loss of £84.2 million last year. Hilco Capital, which bought the retailer for £1 in 2018, looked at cost-saving measures earlier this year which it blamed on customers being more cautious in their spending habits. If the beloved DIY chain collapses, it will be yet another major blow to British high streets, after the downfalls of The Body Shop and Wilko. In August, Sainsbury's agreed to acquire all 10 Homebase stores and convert them into supermarkets in a deal which is anticipated to create around 1,000 new jobs.... www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14076989/Homebase-heads-administration-Jobs-130-shops-risk-DIY-garden-chain-lines-insolvency-experts.html

Not everyone needs to commute, many people work from home now. not sure thats true Andrew anymore, many have been forced back into the office , with others time being split between the home and workbase. Also , if your job can easily be done from home , whats to stop unscrupulous employers outsourcing it overseas to cheaper workers in poorer countries to save money from labours ENIC tax grab among much else?

Market towns are linked to other market towns and villages…villages are going to grow but I agree that you are not sure. What point are you trying to make ?

How can builders work from home? Or farm workers, or lorry drivers, factory workers, road workers ,shop workers, warehouse workers etc etc . It’s merely a fallacy of office workers who cannot conceive how so many workers work with their hands even though it’s all around them.
