But lots of other countries have been invaded by NATO members, usually in support of US-inspired imperialistic military adventures.
That's one thing an EU military is very unlikely to get embroiled in.

But lots of other countries have been invaded by NATO members, usually in support of US-inspired imperialistic military adventures. That's one thing an EU military is very unlikely to get embroiled in. Tony Blair has a lot to answer for, but he acted in violation of the treaty. And it was Blair who pushed for the EU to have military capabilities because of the limitations of the North Atlantic Treaty forbidding the kinds of invasions he was fond of. His flagrant and repeated violations of international law sent a message to the international community that international law could be violated without repercussions. Look at the damage that philosophy has done. Now others are doing as they please invading who they please with the UN powerless to stop them.

Blair makes a convenient scapegoat for all sorts of things, but it would be a stretch to finger him with the blame for the over-assertive foreign policy of the US since WWII. That's something they have thought up for themselves, beginning with the Truman Doctrine in 1947 - they didn't need poodle power for that.
