Unemployed people to be given weight loss jabs to ‘get them back to work’Health Secretary Wes Streeting said ‘widening waistbands’ were placing a burden on the NHS. He went on: ‘Our widening waistbands are also placing significant burden on our health service, costing the NHS £11 billion a year – even more than smoking. And it’s holding back our economy. metro.co.uk/2024/10/15/unemployed-people-given-weight-loss-jabs-get-back-work-21796038/According to a doctor I just listened to on GB News, inoculating everyone who 'needs' this jab will cost £46 billion, but will benefit the economy to the tune of £200 billion, he claimed this had been worked out by 'AI'. Not sure what to make of that, but I did wonder... he said 'inoculating everyone who needs it'. Does that mean people will be pressured or even forced to have this fat jab? Perhaps benefits and NHS treatment will be stopped or cut if fat people refuse to be inoculated. I think this government are that authoritarian.

That's stupid. Give them each a bike instead, then they can get fit, and go to work on it too.

Indeed, but I'm wondering whether this 'fat jab' will be compulsory? It certainly sounds as if the government will pressure people to have it, and if people say no, what then? The only sanction the government could apply is cutting unemployment benefits, isn't it?

As someone on GB News has just said, employed people who want to take this weight loss drug have to pay £350 a month, yet unemployed doughnut eaters get it for free!
I'm not sure, is there a moral there somewhere...

If you are fat and lazy why would losing a few pounds not just make you skinny and lazy?
Being overweight has never been a barrier to getting a job - just ask the Nursing sector.
