There's something almost endearing about the naivite of libbos when it comes to ethnics. There seems to be an expectation that when third worlders arrive at the border all of the social customs and mores that were the norm in the 'old country' are jettisoned and that the new arrivals then somehow miraculously receive an infusion of 'western values' to replace their bad old ways.
Is this a reflection of actual reality or is it just another instance of the woolly 'thinking' which all libbos and other 'progressives' exhibit? Is it our fault that immigrants are dramatically more inclined towards nepotism, corruption and, yes, even criminality in general? Or is it something to do with the who they are and where they have come from? Certainly the Corruption Perception Index published annually by Transparency International might cause us to lean towards the latter view.
According to the latest (2021) report which ranks 180 countries, with Denmark as the least corrupt and South Sudan as the most, the ten countries which have provided the most permanent settlers to the UK in the last twenty years were ranked as follows:
66 China
70 South Africa
85 India
96 Turkey
102 Sri Lanka
117 Philippines
140 Pakistan
147 Bangladesh
154 Nigeria
Poland is ranked 42 and the UK itself 11th. Is the UK's relatively modest ranking compared to other northern European countries due in large part to the Afro-Asian tsunami in the last couple of generations? It’s hard to see how importing over ten million immigrants and their descendants from such highly corrupt countries could fail to have such an effect.
